AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs set to arrive soon but lacking some upgrades

The latest AMD Ryzen 9000 rumor has pinned a release date for the next-gen AMD Zen 5 gaming CPUs being as soon as July 2024. However, this leak also suggests there will be no upgrades when it comes to the chips' core counts. We're strongly expecting AMD's next generation of Ryzen CPUs to impress in terms of overall performance, based on current rumors, and as such they stand a strong chance of displacing other entries in our best gaming CPU guide. However, if core count is a concern for you, you may be a bit disappointed. Fallout and Stalker inspire breathtakingly realistic new survival game

Tense, brutal, relentlessly unkind - the best survival games, like Sons of the Forest, Rust, and Frostpunk imagine dynamic worlds filled with lethal dangers. Occasionally, though, they feel a little rigid. NPCs and enemies, if they’re present at all, follow predictable, reliable scripts, and often become mere tools or gameplay mechanics, rather than believable opponents or co-survivors. Especially in Fallout and Stalker, it feels like you and only you are the one who’s fighting to survive. Other people are there to offer quests, allow trade, and facilitate your adventure. For the true survival experience, the world should feel indifferent to you. Usually, though, you’re the star of the show, and the world, no matter how superficially cruel, is your playground and yours alone. But that’s all about to change. New RPG is Dark Souls but with cats, and it’s on Steam real soon

Soulslike players have been eating well these last few years. Lords of the Fallen, Wo Long, Lies of P, Nioh, Mortal Shell, and Remnant 2 are just a few off the top of my head. That’s without even accounting for the deluge of games that use soulslike elements and have the Steam tag. My point is that it’s become difficult to be seen in the genre when the sea of soulslikes is constantly raging. So how do you stand above the rest? Well, the upcoming Kristala uses cats. Google should cancel AI Overviews in Search and end this nightmare

Google "upgraded" the Google Search experience at I/O 2024, bringing AI Overviews to the top of search results. This seemed like a good idea, at least from Google's perspective, since there's no hotter trend in tech right now than AI. Google wants users to let Google do the googling for them and speed up the Search experience, according to Sundar Pichai & Co. We've already explained why that was a bad idea from the start. Google's AI Overviews essentially steal content from websites and display it atop the results page. In the short run, websites that rely on that traffic could be hurt. Longer term, websites might go out of business, thus crippling the resources Google Gemini has at its disposal. But it turns out that AI Overviews are so much worse than we thought. The web is filled with examples of AI Overviews that spew out the wrong information, as AI is unable to discern between genuine content, jokes, and satire. Some of these AI Overviews have gone viral in the past few days, making Google Search and Gemini look like a sad joke. Google is still defining the work behind AI Overviews, but I think there's no way to fix this problem. The best thing Google could do is cancel AI Overviews indefinitely. Or hide it somewhere on the Google Search results pages where it can be accessed only be users who want AI to do the googling for them. Continue reading... Blaming Corporate Greed for High Prices 'Doesn't Even Pass Smell Test'

Democrats who have repeatedly blamed "corporate greed" as the cause of the sticker shock consumers are experiencing at the grocery store checkout line are simply ignoring the actual cause of inflation, economists argue.

Official: Biden Policies, Aid Delays Leave Ukraine on 'Back Foot'

Ukraine is being put "on the back foot" by the policies of President Joe Biden's administration and the delays in much-needed aid it needs to fight Russia, giving the larger nation the "initiative across the entire theater" as it pushes into Ukraine near Kharkiv.
