Yes announces “The Fragile” 2025 American tour

Yes is back on the road in 2025 and besides classic songs, the band will also perform the 1971 album Fragile in its entirety. The guitarist Steve Howe talked about the tour, saying: “All the band’s albums had a unique feel and approach. After ‘The Yes Album,’ so many things came together, with (co-producer) Eddie Offord steering the proceedings." "While the band focused on only four main songs with full arrangements, each of us wrote and designed a solo piece, which was Bill (Bruford)’s great idea. It’s fairly ‘odd-ball,’ but we were at the height of our creativity, determined for success. It gave us confidence, further than our own in-stock belief, we’d crafted this unusual but noticeable musical twist to rock and what later became prog,” Steve Howe said. Besides him, the band's current line-up has: Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals, acoustic guitar), Billy Sherwood (bass guitar, vocals), and Jay Schellen (drums). David Byrne announces new album and world tour

The Talking Heads frontman David Byrne announced a new album "Who Is The Sky?", which will be out next September 5. The first single "Everybody Laughs" was released and the music video is fantastic. He also announced an extensive American and European tour and you can see dates below the song. "I finished up a new album recently called 'Who Is The Sky?'. It’s produced by Kid Harpoon, joined by Ghost Train Orchestra and, on a couple of songs, my friends St. Vincent and Hayley Williams. It comes out Sept. 5th under Matador—a new label for me." "I will start rehearsing soon for a tour that begins in September. The tour concept is unlike anything I’ve done before. We’ll keep the mobility that was a key element of the American Utopia tour and Broadway show— but instead of the chain… we will have locations. You’ll just have to come and experience what that involves. Tour tickets go on sale 6/13," David Byrne said. Rock stars react to Brian Wilson’s death at 82

A huge part of music died today with the passing of Brian Wilson. He was the mastermind behind The Beach Boys and changed the course of music forever, especially with the masterpiece album Pet Sounds (1966). There is music before and after that album. It was a turning point for everything that came afterward, especially in Pop music. Pet Sounds became a huge inspiration for countless famous artists, many of whom reacted to Brian's death and paid tribute to him. See what famous musicians said about Brian after the news of his passing was shared. Rock stars react to Brian Wilson's death at 82 Elton John "Brian Wilson was always so kind to me from the day I met him. He sang ‘Someone Saved My Life Tonight’ at a tribute concert in 2003, and it was an extraordinary moment for me. I played on his solo records, he sang on my album, The Union, and even performed for my AIDS Foundation. I grew to love him as a person, and for me, he was the biggest influence on my songwriting ever; he was a musical genius and revolutionary. He changed the goalposts when it came to writing songs and shaped music forever. A true giant," Elton John said. Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards shared a photo of an excerpt of his book "Life", where he talks about Brian and Beach Boys. "'Round, round get around / I get around' – I thought that was brilliant. Brian Wilson had something. 'In My Room,' 'Don’t Worry Baby.' I was more interested in their B-sides, the ones he slipped in. There was no particular correlation with what we were doing so I could just listen to it on another level. I thought these are very well constructed songs," he said. Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac) "Anyone with a musical bone in their body must be grateful for Brian Wilson’s genius magical touch !! And greatly saddened of this major worldly loss!! My thoughts go out to his family and friends ❤️ Mick Fleetwood and the Fleetwood Mac Family," he said. Paul Stanley (Kiss) "Brian Wilson Has Died. "Genius" is a term used too often and too loosely. "Tortured Genius" even more so. Brian's astonishing output of musical brilliance will bring joy while it influences generations to come. Thank you Brian and Rest In Peace," he said. Steve Perry (ex-Journey) "I remember being a teenager and hearing 'Surfer Girl' for the first time on the radio. It completely made me pull my car over and simply listen to all the beautiful unique sounds that were presenting this amazing song to me." "A month or so later, I heard “In My Room” and it immediately became an anthem of approval to my teenage feelings, fears and confusions. Many years later, during the covid pandemic, the world was thrown into isolation, and I was emotionally once again sent back into my teenage feelings. Alone in my room I recorded a little video message." "Thank You Brian Wilson for enriching my life. Sincerely, Steve Perry," he said. Randy Bachman (Guess Who, BTO) Oh gee...We say goodbye to Brian Wilson. I’ve know the Beach boys since the mid 60’s and have done lots of shows with them. They were the American answer to the Beatles. They wowed everyone with the songs, structures, vocals harmonies. The sunshine sound. I remember when Brian decided to not go on the road anymore but continued to write incredible music." "They were like family. When Carl passed it was like losing a brother and it feels the same today. They are still going today with their incredible legacy with Bruce Johnston and Mike Love. We lost one of the greatest composers and messengers who took jazz harmony, put it to a Chuck Berry beat and made a new genre of music. Some of the best singles in the world. Dennis, Carl and Brian are all together now. Other worlds to sing in," he said. Billy Idol "Sad 2 hear of Brian Wilson’s Brian Wilson passing … got to perform with the Brian Wilson band about four or five years ago Greek Theatre and at the sound check Brian told me how much he loved my song Eyes Without a Face, which was kind of incredible to me as I was such a fan of early Beach Boys and Per Sounds through to Surfs Up! -BFI," he said. Micky Dolenz (The Monkees) "Hard to put this one into words. Brian Wilson was a true giant - not just of music, but of spirit. His melodies shaped a generation, his harmonies changed the game, and his soul came through in every note." "We crossed paths many times over the years, and every time I was struck by his quiet genius and kind heart. I was lucky to know him… and all of us were lucky to hear what was in his head. Rest peacefully, Brian. You gave us so much beauty," he said. Huey Lewis "Huey: Terrible news. Brian was among a handful of the most important American popular musical artists of all time. Extremely talented and vastly influential, his music will live on forever," he said. Nancy Wilson (Heart) The Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson shared a video of Heart covering "God Only Knows" and said: "This song Brian Wilson created is one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful songs of all time. God Only Knows what the world would be without HIM. Rest in music and poetry," she said. Vernon Reid (Living Colour) "Brian Wilson survived a shocking amount of abuse at the hands of his father, Murray. Monstrous in a way that made. Joe Jackson seem an avatar of benevolence . To create such love & beauty, in spite of it, was a miracle. Michael & Brian paid a heavy price for the joy they brought," he said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezgPoaWpcccThe post Rock stars react to Brian Wilson’s death at 82 appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.

Angus Young’s opinion on Van Halen

Angus Young’s opinion on Van Halen

AC/DC and Van Halen are two of the biggest Hard Rock bands of all time, and both had incredible guitarists, such as Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and of course, Eddie Van Halen. There are many coincidences between the two groups. For example, both were formed by brothers who were born in Europe but founded the bands in the countries they emigrated to. Later in their careers, both groups had to replace their classic singers and still managed to maintain their success and in AC/DC's case, even became bigger. Over the decades, Angus Young has spoken about many Hard Rock bands, including Van Halen and their late guitarist Eddie. Angus Young's opinion on Van Halen Like most Hard Rock musicians, Angus Young admires Van Halen and obviously, the incredible technique and talent the late guitarist Eddie Van Halen had. When the musician sadly passed away in 2020 at the age of 65, a victim of cancer, the AC/DC leader posted a special message on his social media as a tribute to EVH. “Eddie was a guitar wonder, his playing pure wizardry. To the world of music he was a special gift. To those of us fortunate enough to have met him, a very special person. He leaves a big hole in a lot of hearts. To the Van Halen family my heartfelt sympathies,” Angus Young said. The Scottish musician first discovered their music when he saw Eddie playing live the instrumental track "Eruption" in the late 70s. That song became one of his favorites by the band as he said in the Neil Zlozower photo book (Reported by VHND). “AC/DC played on a bill with Van Halen back in 1978, 1979 for a Bill Graham Day on the Green show. I didn’t know much about Van Halen then except that I remember seeing film clips of them. Especially the one of Eddie playing the solo piece, ‘Eruption’, I was very impressed. I didn’t meet Eddie until years later when there was a Monsters of Rock open-air festival in England. I was shocked to hear he liked my playing. Because I’ve never rated myself as a guitarist.” He continued: “(…) ‘Eruption’ is a favorite track. He’s got everything characteristic of his playing in that song. There’s a bit of everything. When Jimi Hendrix came along it was like, ‘Where did this guy come from? I think that was the same feeling with Edddie. When Eddie appeared on the scene, every guitarist I ran into said, ‘You’ve gotta hear this guy!” Angus Young said. During the same conversation, Young said that like Jimi Hendrix, Eddie was also an innovator. According to him, the late musician also changed the whole landscape of guitar playing and was imitated by countless other guitarists. "He turned the rule book upside down in terms of his approach. There was a lot of experimentation to his playing. Eddie also crosses into that avant-garde thing, which puts him in the same category as Hendrix,” Angus Young said. In the 80s Angus said Van Halen was more of a Pop band and that Malcolm was better than Eddie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9r-NxuYszg&pp=ygUIZXJ1cHRpb27SBwkJsgkBhyohjO8%3D Back in 1984, when AC/DC and Van Halen already were some of the biggest Rock and Roll bands in the world, they were the main attractions of the Monsters of Rock festival in Donnington, England. In an interview with British TV to promote the show, Angus Young was asked if there was going to be some kind of rivalry between the two bands. (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage) "Not really (There is no rivalry). It's a different thing, they are more... what would you say? A Pop band, I suppose than what we are. We are a more Rock and Roll band." Two years later, in 1986, when talking with Guitar World magazine about how underrated his brother was, he said that Malcolm was actually better than Eddie. “Malcolm makes the band sound so full. It’s hard to get a big ego if you play in a band with your brother. It keeps your head on earth. Malcolm is like me, he just wants the two of us to connect. Although he lets me take all the lead breaks, Malcolm’s still a better guitarist than Eddie Van Halen.” “Van Halen certainly knows his scales. But I don’t enjoy listening to very technical guitarists who cram all the notes they know into one song. I mean, Van Halen can do what he does very well, but he’s really just doing finger exercises.” “If a guitarist wants to practice all the notes he can play, he should do it at home. There’s definitely a place for that type of playing, but it’s not in front of me,” Angus Young said. Eddie was a big fan of AC/DC and a good friend of Malcolm Young Eddie was a big fan of AC/DC and his favorite album by them was "Powerage". The record was released in 1978, same year Van Halen's debut album came out. Whenever he went to see the Australian band playing live he would always ask the Young brothers if "Down Payment Blues", one of his favorite tracks, was part of the setlist. He even told Billboard in 2015 that the song had one of his favorite guitar riffs of all time. AC/DC and Van Halen had the chance to share the bill of many festivals over the years. Eddie became a good friend of the late Malcolm Young. When the AC/DC rhythm guitarist passed away in 2017 at the age of 64, due to Dementia, the Dutch musician paid tribute to him on his social media. “It is a sad day in Rock and Roll. Malcolm Young was my friend and the heart and soul of AC/DC. I had some of the best times of my life with him on our 1984 European tour. He will be missed and my deepest condolences to his family, band mates and friends,” Eddie Van Halen said. As Angus Young said many times, whenever they met Eddie he was always with a big smile and full of warmth, happy to see them. The post Angus Young’s opinion on Van Halen appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.

Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration Would Raise Wages for Lower-Income Americans

President Trump signed so many executive orders on his first two days in office that many Americans were naturally left wondering how his policy changes would affect their everyday lives. One such question looms particularly large: If we deport illegal aliens, who will take their place in working low-skilled jobs? Many seem to think that the economy is completely dependent on illegal aliens working low-skilled jobs. According to the Brookings Institution, for example, deportations...
