When Joann Fabrics declared bankruptcy and closed all 800 of its retail locations, many wondered where they would shop. Joann had a fabric selection unlike any other retailer, and at-home crafters felt lost. Following the bankruptcy, The Michaels Companies, Inc. announced the acquisition of Joann’s intellectual property and private label brands. A recent announcement from Michaels sheds some light on what exactly that means for shoppers. Michaels announced in a news release that its stores will now feature The Knit & Sew Shop and The Party Shop, providing shoppers with new options to enjoy. The dual-branded shop offers a curated assortment of threads, sewing notions, and yarn, with fabric also available in most stores,” the release explains. “The selection includes beloved JOANN brands, like customer favorite Big Twist®, which hits shelves at the end of October.
