Savage Garden formed in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 1994 when multi-instrumentalist Daniel Jones placed an advertisement seeking a vocalist and Darren Hayes responded. The duo released their self-titled debut album in March 1997 and their second album Affirmation in November 1999. Both albums reached number 1 in Australia and Sweden, while also hitting the top ten in the United Kingdom and United States. The band achieved massive commercial success with four number 1 hit singles including “I Want You” and “To the Moon and Back” in 1996, “Truly Madly Deeply” in 1997, and “I Knew I Loved You” in 1999.
