Benelli, a storied Italian motorcycle brand owned by China’s Qianjiang and now distributed in the U.S. by Keeway America, has released details on the 2026 Benelli Tornado 550, slated to arrive in dealerships in early 2026. The Tornado 550 is Benelli’s only fully faired sportbike, and it joins Benelli’s lineup alongside the TNT135 and 302S naked bikes, four TRK adventure touring bikes, and the classic-style Imperiale 400.
Powering the Tornado 550 is a 554cc parallel-Twin that makes a claimed 61 hp at 8,250 rpm and 40 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm and has a compression ratio of 11.5:1, a bore and stroke of 70.5 x 71mm, and a 270-degree crank.
Suspension is provided by Marzocchi and includes a fully adjustable 41mm inverted fork and a rear shock with preload and rebound adjustability. Brembo brakes include dual 4-piston radial monoblock calipers pinching 320mm discs and a single 2-piston caliper on a 260mm disc, and ABS is standard. The 17-inch aluminum wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Angel GT sport-touring tires.
The Tornado 550’s seat height is 31.5 inches, and its running weight is 437 lb. The fuel tank holds 4.4 gallons and has a 0.7-gallon reserve.
The Tornado has a sculpted fairing, and Benelli claims that the daytime running lights that resemble the fangs of a lion are a nod to the historic symbol of the Benelli brand. It also comes with a 5-inch TFT display that offers wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Other technology includes traction control, two ride modes (Normal and Sport), and tire-pressure monitoring. The bike also comes with a USB-C charging port.
