UPDATE: Fantastic Health Update For National Guard Member Andrew Wolfe Who Was Critically Shot In Washington D.C.
Prayers are being answered!
National Guard member Andrew Wolf of West Virginia who was critically shot by an Afghan National just days before Thanksgiving is now showing some positive signs in the hospital.
Wolfe who suffered a serious gun shot is now currently able to respond to doctors with a thumbs up when asked how he’s doing.
Fox 5 DC reported more on the positive news of Wolfe’s recovery process:
West Virginia Governor Patrick Morissey provided an update Monday on the status of Andrew Wolfe, a National Guard member who was critically injured in a shooting on the streets of Washington, D.C. just before Thanksgiving.
“We did have some positive news that we were told that Andrew was asked if he could hear the nurse who asked the question to give a thumbs up, and he did respond. And we were told that he also wiggled his toes,” said Morissey to the press on Monday. “So we take that as a positive sign.”
Wolfe remains in serious condition in the hospital.
Communities in West Virginia have held vigils honoring both Wolfe and U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, who was killed in the shooting.
“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers hoped for, she carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” said Gabriel Markle, Beckstrom’s high school principal. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to help others.”
Beckstrom, 20, and Wolfe, 24, were serving with the West Virginia National Guard under President Trump’s crime‑fighting initiative, which placed the D.C. police force under federal control.

PBS reported the alleged shooter of Wolfe, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, is now facing upgraded charges:
Charges against the man accused of shooting two National Guard members have been upgraded to first-degree murder after one of the soldiers died, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia announced Friday.
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24 were hospitalized in critical condition after the Wednesday afternoon shooting near the White House. Trump announced Thursday evening that Beckstrom had died.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office said the charges against Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national who worked with the CIA during the Afghanistan War, now include one count of first-degree murder, three counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
Beckstrom and Wolfe were deployed with the West Virginia National Guard as part of President Donald Trump’s crime-fighting mission that federalized the D.C. police force. The president also has deployed or tried to deploy National Guard members to other cities to assist with his mass deportation efforts but has faced court challenges.
Trump called the shooting a “terrorist attack” and criticized the Biden administration for enabling Afghans who worked with U.S. forces during the Afghanistan War to enter the U.S. The president has said he wants to “permanently pause migration” from poorer nations and expel millions of immigrants from the country.
In an interview on Fox News, Pirro said there are “many charges to come” beyond the upgraded murder charge. She said her heart goes out to the family of Beckstrom, who volunteered to serve and “ended up being shot ambush-style on the cold streets of Washington, D.C., by an individual who will now be charged with murder in the first degree.”
