Ella Langley Scores First-Career #1 On Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart With “Choosin’ Texas”

First of many. It’s been nothing short of a breakout year for Ella Langley. After riding the continued success of her 2024 smash hit with Riley Green, “you look like you love me,” to a staggering six CMA and ACM Awards throughout 2025 (seven if you include its 2024 CMA Award win for Musical Event of the Year), Langley found lightning in a bottle once again with “Choosin’ Texas.” “Choosin’ Texas” has been such a success, in fact, that it just scored Langley her first-career #1 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, rising from #4 to #1 today. Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" jumps 4-1 on this week's Hot Country Songs chart, becoming her first career No. 1 on the chart. — billboard charts (@billboardcharts) December 2, 2025 Though the Alabama native has multiple #1s on other charts, namely “you look like you love me” capturing the top spot on both Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and Mediabase’s Country Radio chart and “weren’t for the wind” hitting #1 on Mediabase’s chart once again this past July, “Choosin’ Texas” is now her sole chart-topper on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, which is arguably the most popular out of the three. The track, which was now famously co-written with Miranda Lambert, was released back on October 7th, and quickly became one of the most buzzy songs of the year for a couple different reasons. For starters, the track once again fanned the flames of the seemingly never-ending online drama surrounding Langley and Green’s relationship, with a countless number of fans online speculating whether the song was written about Green himself. This, of course, was mainly due to the single’s artwork depicting a couple, a man wearing a cowboy hat and a blonde woman, in a red convertible, which made fans once again stir up rumors surrounding the alleged “love triangle” between Langley, Green and Megan Moroney. Unsurprisingly, Langley would all but deny these rumors, telling fans at her Athens, Georgia, concert back in October that she’ll never reveal who the song is about. “This girl’s up here, she’s trying to get me to spill the tea on who it’s about. Baby, I ain’t ever gonna do that. I ain’t never gonna do that. But I am gonna play the song, it’s called ‘Choosin’ Texas.’” Additionally, the song simply flew up the charts. Debuting at #7 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart back on October 29th, “Choosin’ Texas” immediately became her first song ever to debut inside the Top 10 and her fourth Top 10 hit overall, joining the likes of “you look like you love me” and “weren’t for the wind.” It would also debut at #39 on the all-genre Billboard 100. Couple that with a staggering 36 million streams on Spotify alone in less than two months and it being performed on her huge night at the CMA Awards last month, all signs pointed to this being a smash for her. Ultimately, it seemed as if this track was destined to be a smash hit for Langley, and it cemented itself in history rather quickly. Given the current trajectory of the 26-year-old singer/songwriter’s career, it’s hard to imagine this will be the first of many #1s on the chart throughout her career. “Choosin’ Texas” The post Ella Langley Scores First-Career #1 On Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart With “Choosin’ Texas” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
