So the City of Pittsburgh didn’t actually have any say in Morgan Wallen’s recent concert cancellation? Safe to say that the “Last Night” singer’s weekend in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania didn’t go as planned. There’s been a number of things from what was supposed to be a two-night stop in the Steel City that has pushed Wallen into the headlines (like him throwing a fan’s phone), but the main controversy stems from the cancelation of night two. Country music fans had flocked to Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 6 to see Morgan Wallen on his Still The Problem Tour (along with Zach John King, Gavin Adcock and Ella Langley). But they had the rug pulled out from underneath them when Wallen and his team decided to call off the concert early on during the day because of forecasted severe weather that was set to hit the area that night. Here was the official announcement from the country superstar: “After talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night. Safety for my fans and crew is the highest priority. Refunds available at point of purchase.” And you know what made the cancellation even worse? That projected severe weather hit the Pittsburgh area early in the day, and it had cleared out by 4:30 P.M. local time. The concert was set to start at 5:30. Fans were already upset with the cancellation, but once it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful night, they were outraged… and speculated that Wallen might have called off the concert for other reasons: Update on Morgan Wallen Pittsburgh: It’s currently 8:38pm. And it’s looking like the country star might have to get another one ready, because the Mayor of Pittsburgh, Corey O’Connor, spoke to KDKA Radio and told them that at no point did Morgan Wallen or his team reach out to the Public Safety division of the city. The Mayor says his administration was never contacted either: “There was no contact to Public Safety or my administration so however the artist and his team picked to not have the show, that was on them, there was no consulting for Public Safety or the City of Pittsburgh. If you’re going to say that you consulted… that’s one story. We, again, had no record of that from public safety director, all the way down.” Wallen said on social media his team worked with city officials…. Mayor O'Connor says they didn't know anything about the show being cancelled. https://t.co/jNAqCyL9mN pic.twitter.com/2u324DSNKo — 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA (@KDKARadio) June 8, 2026 That’s not a great look, considering Wallen said in his initial statement that his team had spoken with “local officials.” The Mayor of Pittsburgh has no idea who those local official would be, and added that from what he knew, officials at Acrisure Stadium were also not notified of the cancellation. Granted, when shows are canceled last minute, fans are always in a rage, so if Wallen’s team jumped the gun on the weather, it was more than likely in an effort to give fans as much notice as possible. To be fair, fans reported really gnarly weather near Pittsburgh, but clearly, the show could’ve gone on at the scheduled time. Those are obviously some big updates in the story, and I’d imagine that Wallen and his team might have to put together another statement to try and clear everything up.
