BREAKING: Republican Steve Hilton ADVANCES in California Governor Election

It looks like California’s (alleged) attempt to cheat Steve Hilton out of the election didn’t work! The Trump-endorsed Republican candidate is now officially projected to advance in California’s governor election. Here’s a deeper look at the results, at the time of writing this article: BREAKING: Decision Desk HQ projects Republican Steve Hilton has secured the second spot in California's gubernatorial primary, advancing to the November general election runoff against Democrat Xavier Becerra. : Xavier Becerra: 2,163,105 (27.7%) : Steve Hilton: 1,963,027… pic.twitter.com/12TL7Ty3LQ — RedWave Press (@RedWavePress) June 9, 2026 BREAKING: Decision Desk HQ projects Republican Steve Hilton has secured the second spot in California’s gubernatorial primary, advancing to the November general election runoff against Democrat Xavier Becerra. : Xavier Becerra: 2,163,105 (27.7%) : Steve Hilton: 1,963,027 (25.1%) Let’s go! Steve Hilton will now go head-to-head with Democrat Xavier Becerra in the race to succeed Gov. Newsom. The Hill confirmed: Former state Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D) and former Fox News host Steve Hilton, a Republican, are projected to advance to the general election for governor of California, according to Decision Desk HQ. Hilton had coalesced GOP support with the help of President Trump’s endorsement, while the Democratic field remained divided over a crowded field of candidates until just before Election Day. Becerra, though, surged to frontrunner status among Democrats after Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) exited the race amid sexual misconduct allegations that the now-resigned congressman denies. With an estimated 84 percent of the vote in, Becerra had 27.66 percent to Hilton’s 25.10 percent, Decision Desk HQ reports. Under California’s unique primary system, all candidates for the office appeared on the same ballot, and the top two vote-getters will advance to the general election regardless of party affiliation. In the middle of attending the Knicks game this evening, President Trump shared the good news on Truth Social: Steve Hilton is promising big changes in California if elected as governor. Previously, he expressed confidence that he would secure a place in the top two to advance to November’s runoff amid all the shadiness happening with the election.
