Italian Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies says she’s lucky to be alive after a terrifying motorcycle accident. The 21-year-old daughter of Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro, and Princess Camilla, Duchess of Castro, shared photos of the terrifying ordeal on Instagram on May 28. “I’m incredibly lucky to be alive. I crashed headfirst into a wall whilst riding a motorcycle and ended up in reanimation in the Intensive Care Unit. Surviving this was nothing short of a miracle,” she wrote. “I wanted to share my own experience as I’ve realized now more than ever that motorcycles are powerful and thrilling but also unforgiving. Please ride with care. Wear full protection, especially a proper helmet. Loved ones shared kind messages for the recovering princess on Instagram. “My deepest thanks to the outstanding team at Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace for their expert care during those critical days, and to the emergency medical team and first responders on the scene, whose quick and decisive actions in those first moments made all the difference,” she wrote. “We’re happy to know you’re okay! Wishing you a speedy recovery,” another person shared. “Thank God you’re ok!! Sending love and positive thoughts for your full recovery,” a loved one wrote on the Princesses’ motorcycle accident post. A stranger shared a sweet message of strength. “To the young hospitalized princess. Even if I don’t know you, my heart thinks about you. At 20, life is ahead of you, beautiful and full of promise. May tenderness envelop you, may light guide you, and may healing embrace you gently. Come back to life, slowly, with all your strength and gentleness. Strangers already love you.
