Heart’s Nancy Wilson Slams Unauthorized Use

The Heart guitarist took issue with the Trump administration for playing an instrumental version of the band’s song “Barracuda” at Saturday’s (6/14) military parade in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary. “Earlier today, the song ‘Barracuda’ by Heart was played without permission or authorization from us,” wrote Nancy on social media. The song was written by Nancy and her sister Ann and was initially released on Heart’s third album “Little Queen” in 1977. “As daughters of a U.S. Marine Corps major, we hold a deep and abiding respect for the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces,” continued Nancy. “On a day meant to honor that service, it’s important that music used in such settings reflects not only the tone of the event but also the wishes of the artists who created it.” Attendance at Trump’s parade, held on the president’s 79th birthday, was reportedly dwarfed by the millions who showed up at roughly 2,000 anti-Trump protests held all over the U.S. ### The post Heart’s Nancy Wilson Slams Unauthorized Use appeared first on RockinTown.
