NYC, New Jersey hit with deadly thunderstorms, heavy rain
Two people are dead after heavy rains and thunderstorms swept through the tri-state area overnight on Monday, July 14, 2025. Torrential rainfall swamped the city's subway system, flooded entire neighborhoods, downed trees and knocked out power to thousands of homes and businesses. The deaths occurred in Plainfield, N.J. on Monday when two people trapped in their car were swept away by floodwaters.
