Lonely God 8/1 Fit For A King: Lonely God The eighth album from the Texas Metalcore band features “Witness The End” featuring Motionless In White’s Chris “Motionless” Cerulli. “We didn’t care what anybody thought — we just wanted to write a deathcore song,” the band recalled. “It turned out to be really special. Chris did not disappoint either.” “In general, ‘Lonely God’ relates to the pursuit of power,” offered vocalist Ryan Kirby. “You may have all of the power and be a ‘God,’ but it’s a lonely spot because the world despises you.” Mammoth 8/2 Mammoth Reaches The Top For A Third Time Wolfgang Van Halen‘s Mammoth is #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart with “The End.” Mammoth (once known as Mammoth WVH) has now logged three #1s following “Distance” and “Don’t Back Down.” Ozzy Osbourne 8/2 Ozzy Returns To The Charts Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” lands on Billboard Hot 100 (#46) the for the first time, while “Mama, I’m Coming Home” returns to the ranking (#49) after 33 years. “Crazy Train” from Osbourne’s 1980 debut solo album “Blizzard Of Ozz,” did not make the Hot 100 despite becoming one of his signature songs. “Mama, I’m Coming Home” was a single from Osbourne’s sixth solo album “No More Tears.” Wembley Stadium 8/2 Man Falls To His Death At Oasis Concert “A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall,” a Metropolitain Police statement said. The man fell from the upper tier of London’s Wembley Stadium toward the end of an Oasis show. Metallica – The Black Album 8/4 Metallica Has Staying Power Metallica’s 1991 self-titled album (aka “The Black Album”) is the fourth record to spend 800 weeks (over 15 years) on the Billboard 200. The album originally peaked at #1 on August 31st, 1991. Only Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side Of The Moon,” (1973), Bob Marley And The Wailers “Legend” (1984) and Journey’s “Greatest Hits” (1988) have surpassed the 899-week mark. Metallica and Pink Floyd are the only ones with studio albums that have reached 800 weeks. The Bob Marley and Journey entries were compilations. Shinedown 8/5 Shinedown Hot Sauce Smokey Bones, an Eastern casual dining chain, carries Shinedown’s Devour Pineapple Jerk Sauce for a one-of-a-kind wing experience. Shinedown have two other hot sauces that are named after their songs: Symptom Chipotle Garlic Sauce and Attention Attention This Is Hot!!! Mango Habanero Sauce. Volbeat 8/6 Volbeat Drummer To Miss Shows Volbeat announces that drummer Jon Larsen (pictured far left) will miss four shows on the band’s ongoing North American tour due to “a family commitment back home” in Denmark. Filling in for him once again will be Jon Dette (Testament), who previously stepped in for the Volbeat drummer in ’22 after Larsen tested positive for COVID-19. Marc Hudson (Dragonforce) 8/7 Dragonforce Singer On “Dan Da Dan” Dragonforce frontman Marc Hudson is the voice of Hayashi in the English dub of the Netflix show “Dan Da Dan.”  “I had the incredible opportunity to be a voice actor in ‘Dan Da Dan’ and getting to perform the exorcism song as part of the character was an absolute blast. Everest 8/8 Halestorm: Everest “Our album ‘Everest’ is a story of our journey as a band, full of beautiful endings and new beginnings,” commented frontwoman Lzzy Hale. “We weave a tangled web of melancholy, frustration, anger, and the vast purgatory of love and love lost. It is a rollercoaster of epic musical detours, great songwriting and completely unhinged twists and turns.” The album was produced by Grammy winner Dave Cobb. 8/8 Babymetal: Metal Forth “Metal Forth” was originally scheduled for release in June but was later delayed several times. The band’s fifth album is the first to be released by Capitol Records, after the band signed with the label early in 2025. It is also the first album recorded with Momoko Okazaki (“Momometal”) since she joined the band in ’23. Babymetal formed in Tokyo in ’10. The three vocalists are backed session musicians known as the “Kami Band.” No Rain, No Flowers 8/8 Black Keys: No Rain, No Flowers The band’s 13th album represents a reset for the duo. Following last year’s cancelled arena tour, due to poor ticket sales the duo of guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Pat Carney took the ‘free’ time to record their fourth album in five years. The album was recorded in Nashville, “We wanted to go straight to the source – into the room with people known for their songwriting,” Carney stated. “(Songwriter/producer) Daniel Tashian was one of the first people I met after moving to Nashville, and we’ve been fans of (songwriter/producer) Scott Storch forever.” Motel Du Cap 8/8 Good Charolette: Motel Du Cap Good Charolette’s eighth album will be the band’s first full length release since ’18’s “Generation Rx.” The single “Last December” dropped in ’20. In the intervening years, the Maden brothers (Joel and Benji) have been involved in a live streaming platform, artist management and Joel’s Artist Friendly podcast. “There’s always a little colored sarcasm in our music, there’s a little tongue-in-cheek,” noted Benji. The Algorithm – Ultra Edition 8/8 Filter: The Algorithm – Ultra Edition It’s a re-imagined, remixed and remastered version of songs from “The Algorithm,” with nine additional tracks. “The Algorithm,” released in ’23, was Filter’s eighth studio album. Originally conceived in 2018 as a follow-up to the band’s first album, “Short Bus” (1995) the project was shelved due to the collapse of the PledgeMusic crowd funding platform. Close Your Eyes 8/8 Liv Sin: Close Your Eyes Fronted by Liv Jagrell (ex-Sister Sin), the album features the title track with Scar Symmetry’s Lars Palmqvist. “The song has a straight-up melodic chorus that everyone was instantly hooked on,” stated Liv Sin. “The song also has a darker edge to it, since it covers the topic of human trafficking.” In 2016 singer Jagrell formed Liv Sin with the band’s debut album, “Follow Me,” arriving the following year.  New Messiahs 8/8 Ashes Of Ares: New Messiahs The Heavy Metal duo featuring former Iced Earth members Matt Barlow and Freddie Vidales, will release its fourth full-length effort. Barlow served two stints with Iced Earth from 1993 to 2003 and from 2007 to 2011. Vidales played with Iced Earth from 2008 to 2012 and was featured on the band’s 2011 album, “Dystopia.” The set features the track ““‘Keep On Walkin.” Nothing More 8/9 Nothing More’s “Freefall” Nothing More is #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs Airplay chart with “Freefall.” featuring Chris Daughtry. The song is the fourth #1 from the band’s “Carnal” album. “We wrote an anthem for the people who find themselves in an uncertain and chaotic phase of their life,” explained singer Jonny Hawkins.” U2 8/10 U2 Share Gaza Viewpoints U2 share a post on their website clarifying the band members’ individual stances on Israel and Gaza, “We urge more good people in Israel to demand unfettered access by professionals to deliver the critical care needed throughout Gaza,” writes Bono. “What we are witnessing is not a distant tragedy—it is a test of our shared humanity.” adds The Edge. Bobby Whitlock 8/10 Bobby Whitlock Passes Away The keyboardist in Eric Clapton’s short-lived but acclaimed band Derek And The Dominos, dies at the age of 77 in his Texas home, “surrounded by family.” In the late 60s Whitlock joined Delaney & Bonnie and Friends; some of those “Friends” included a post-Cream guitarist Eric Clapton. KISS 8/13 KISS Kennedy Center Honors Announcement KISS will be recognized as Kennedy Center Honors recipients later this year. The annual ceremony which recognizes and celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to American culture through performing arts, traditionally takes place in Washington, D.C. in December. Bright As Blasphemy… 8/15 Chevelle: Bright As Blasphemy… Chevelle’s 10th album features the lead single “Rabbit Hole (Cowards, Pt. 1)” which was followed by “Jim Jones (Cowards, Pt. 2).” “Human Existence encompasses both inherent challenges and potential,” said Chevelle in a statement regarding the album. “It’s up to you how to pass the time.” “Bright As Blasphemy” is the follow-up to 2021’s “Niratias.” Ricochet 8/15 Rise Against: Ricochet It’s their first album in four years. “‘Ricochet‘ is about our collective inter-connectedness,” frontman Tim McIlrath explained. “Everything you do is going to affect somebody; everything you throw will affect the next person.” “We’re connected to other countries, other economies; we’re connected to undocumented immigrants,” continued McIlrath “We’re connected to every decision our leaders make. It’s all one big ricochet effect. That idea is the backbone of this album.” Unbreakable 8/15 David Ellefson/Jeff Scott Soto: Unbreakable Ellefson, a former Megadeth bassist, and Soto, an acclaimed Metal vocalist, have lined-up their second album. “It’s heavier, more personal, and shaped by everything we’ve experienced on and off the stage,” noted Ellefson. Ellefson – Soto’s debut album, “Vacation In The Underworld,” was released in ’22. Band Of Brothers 8/15 Warmen: Band Of Brothers Warmen, the creation of former Children Of Bodom keyboardist Janne “Warman” Wirman, will deliver the follow-up to 2023’s “Here For None.” “We really wrote this album together,” says Wirman. “It feels like a real band — a true band of brothers.” When the tragic death of vocalist/guitarist Alexi Laiho brought an end to the Finnish melodic Death Metal band Children Of Bodom. Wirman and his brother Antti returned with Warmen. Turnstile 8/16 Turnstile Rule Alternative Airplay Turnstile sit atop the Billboard Alternative Airplay survey with “Never Enough.” The band first reached Alternative Airplay’s Top 10 in ’22 with “Mystery,” which peaked at #8. Later that year, “Holiday” reached #10. Both tracks are on their ’21 set “Glow On.” Ozzy Tattoo 8/16 Ozzy Osbourne Remembered Aston Villa Football Club remembers the late Black Sabbath singer ahead of the Premier League opener against Newcastle United at Villa Park in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Ozzy grew up in Aston. A video tribute is shown while the teams enter to Ozzy’s live performance of “Crazy Train.”  Qzzy Osbourne 8/18 “Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home” Pulled The one-hour film about the “last chapter” of Ozzy’s life is pulled from the BBC without explanation. on BBC. “The film has moved in the schedule and we’ll confirm new details,” states a BBC spokesperson. Later, the BBC adds, “we are respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film in due course.” Lars Ulrich Made In Japan 8/19 “Live In Japan” Is The Best “I just wanna take a brief second and say 53 years ago, this very weekend, Deep Purple were in Japan for the very first time,” says Metallica’s Lars Ulrich. “The concerts became the ‘Made In Japan’ album — in my humble opinion, hands down the best Hard Rock live album ever. I have heard it just about 18,000 times, and every time I hear it, it just gets better and better and better, and it’s so crazy cool.” The double album was originally released in December ’72 in Japan, with a U.S. release the following March. It became a critical and commercial success. Def Leppard 8/20 Def Leppard on “AGT” Def Leppard perform “Pour Some Sugar On Me” on NBC’s talent competition “America’s Got Talent.” Asked to share some advice for the competition’s hopefuls, Def Leppard’s singer Joe Elliott says, “Live your dream.” Brent Hinds 8/20 Former Mastodon Guitarist Dies Brent Hinds is killed in a car/motorcycle accident in southeast Atlanta. A female operating a BMW SUV failed to yield while turning left and collided with Hinds who was operating a Harley Davidson. Hinds, who left Mastodon earlier this year, was 51 years old. The Who 8/21 The Who Cancel Philly Concert The Who’s concert in Philadelphia at Xfinity Mobile Arena, is postponed due to illness. Tickets are valid for a rescheduled show, The Who are on “The Song Is Over” U.S. farewell tour. The band’s first ‘farewell’ trek was four decades ago. The Warning: Live From Auditorio Nacional, CDMX 8/22 The Warning: Live From Auditorio Nacional, CDMX It’s a companion album to the concert film of the same name. “Having a live album has always been a dream of ours and, for it to be out in a concert film, vinyl and everything in between, is a huge accomplishment for us,” stated The Warning. “The live debut of our (latest) album ‘Keep Me Fed’ was possible thanks to the work of a huge team,” added the band. All Is Beautiful… Because We’re Doomed 8/22 We Came As Romans: All Is Beautiful… Because We’re Doomed The set contains the track “Culture Wound.” “‘(The song) is about taking a look inside and deciding which side of yourself is going to control your life,” stated the band. “This song was written to question our human nature — is it inherently good or inherently selfish? Are we here to try and make something better for everyone or just survive for ourselves? All of the different ‘sides of ourselves’ that we’ve discovered, struggled with, or left behind.” Private Music 8/22 Deftones: Private Music “Private Music,” with the lead single “My Mind Is A Mountain,” is the first Deftones album in fifteen years without bassist Sergio Vega. It’s also their first studio album since “Ohms” (2020), making it the Alt. Metal band’s longest gap between two albums. Deftones will embark on a North American tour that will coincide with the album’s release. Rock N’ Roll Chose Me 8/22 Dizzy Reed: Rock N’ Roll Chose Me It’s the second album by keyboardist Dizzy Reed, the second longest-serving Guns N; Roses member after singer Axl Rose.  Reed joined GN’R as a touring member in 1990, during the “Use Your Illusion” era. He has played in all the latter editions of the band and the current “reunion” lineup. Reed’s debut solo album, “Rock ‘N Roll Ain’t Easy,” was released in February 2018. A Thousand Little Deaths 8/22 Blackbriar: A Thousand Little Deaths The album features “The Last Sigh Of Bliss.” “It’s a sultry, seductive, and euphoric song with heavy guitars and a chorus,” said vocalist Zora Cock. The Dutch band formed in 2012 and according to Finland’s Tuonela Magazine, mixes “a healthy dose of Gothic imagery into their brand of symphonic Metal.” The band currently generates 1 million Spotify streams a month, Some Kind Of Alchemy 8/22 Otherwise: Some Kind Of Alchemy EP The band recently signed with the Seek and Strike imprint. “The label was co-founded by a dear friend who has believed in the band and our message since our inception,” stated Otherwise singer Adrian Patrick. “He cares about us and vice versa, which is saying a lot for the music business.” The album’s first single was ‘Stop, Drop And Roll (Doesn’t Work In Hell).” Inquisition 8/22 Burning Witches: Inquisition The band’s sixth’ sixth studio album features the set’s title track. “‘Inquisition’ (the album) is for those of you who are into legends like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Slayer – full of power, melodies, double bass drums, heavy riffs and speedy guitar solos,” commented founding guitarist Romana Kalkuhl. “‘Inquisition’ is not only our style and lifestyle, it’s our life! Both songs are from the band’s debut album “Afterglow.” Shaun Foist 8/26 Breaking Benjamin Drummer Steps Away Shaun Foist announces that he will “step away” from touring with the band to “focus on healing” in his ongoing battle with Hashimoto’s disease. “Friends, family, and most importantly, the fans I’ve battled Hashimoto’s disease since 2017, facing fatigue, leg weakness, stiffness, weight changes, and overall drum playing control issues.” Foist wrote in a statement. “During the (’25) ‘Awaken The Fallen’ tour, I was experiencing extreme leg fatigue and complications, making drumming nearly impossible. We ran tests on my back that came out fine thankfully, but tests confirmed Hashimoto’s had flared, pushing my thyroid into ‘hyper’ mode, causing weakness and weight loss.” Foist joined Breaking Benjamin in ’14.
