Funeral Portrait

What would the blending of My Chemical Romance and Motionless In White be like? An emotional Hardcore, Punk Rock band with a dash of musical theater… or Funeral Portrait. Hailing from Atlanta, the band, once known as “Cosmoscope,” formed in ’14. Later in the year, Funeral Portrait issued debut EP “For The Dearly Departed” and followed that with the full-length “A Moment Of Silence” in ’16. The EP explored the stages of grief while the album pondered what happens after you die. Signed to Better Noise Music, Funeral Portrait delivered “Sounds from Beyond the Abyss, Vol. 1” which included their rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep.”  The band featured Bert McCracken (The Used) on “You’re So Ugly When You Cry” and Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills) for “Suffocate City,” the lead single from sophomore album “Greetings From Suffocate City” which became the band’s first #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. It was also a first for Chamas. Ice Nine Kills’ best Mainstream Rock Airplay showing was “A Grave Mistake,” which hit #9 in ’19. Suffocate City Just months later, Funeral Portrait scored another #1 with “Holy Water.” The track featured Five Finger Death Punch vocalist Ivan Moody. “Before our tour together, I wasn’t too familiar with The Funeral Portrait’s music, so I didn’t know what to expect,” shared Moody. “But after watching them night after night, seeing how they commanded the stage and connected with the crowd, I was absolutely hooked.” Moody also discussed how the collaboration came about. “I heard ‘Holy Water’ on the radio and couldn’t help but sing along. So I hit up Lee (vocalist Lee Jennings) about the possibility of me redoing the song with them. Luckily, he was all in — and here we are.” “Filming the ‘Holy Water’ music video was an absolutely insane experience,” stated Jennings. “The production was on another level — every detail, every shot, just completely unreal. (Director) Michael Lombardi brought a vision to this that was bigger than we ever imagined, turning it into a full-on cinematic experience. And having Ivan Moody be a part of it? That was next level. His energy and presence took everything to a whole new dimension.” Holy Water “This album is a statement,” noted Jennings. “Its title reflects our conviction, respect, and, most importantly, devotion to its message” The deluxe edition of “Greetings From Suffocate City” contained Suffocate City,” “Holy Water,” “Hearse For Two” (featuring Lilith Czar) and three new songs, “Skinny Lies,” “Evergreen,” and “Lost Boy.” Hearse For Two Evergreen Several of their most recent music videos have “Icon” characters that are representative of the band.
