White House is 'very optimistic' ahead of Russia-US meeting on ending Ukraine war

The White House said it is "very optimistic" ahead of special envoy Steve Witkoff's meeting in Moscow on Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as U.S. officials continue their push to end Russia's war against Ukraine. The Kremlin on Tuesday said the meeting was expected to begin at about 5 p.m. local time, or about 9 a.m. ET, and that U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner was expected to take part.
