House Approves Funding Package to End Government Shutdown

The House of Representatives has approved a government funding package in a 217 to 214 bipartisan vote on Tuesday, bringing the four-day partial government shutdown to an end. The bill will now go to President Donald Trump's desk for signature into law. Today's vote came after Trump held a last-minute meeting with several Republican hold-outs including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who later dropped her demand to attach the SAVE Act. The package includes multiple bills to fund the government through until September, which two weeks of temporary funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). But Republicans will have another fight on their hands in less than two weeks when that temporary funding expires on February 13 as lawmakers must reach an agreement on how DHS funds should be used for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Democrats have said they will withhold funding unless significant reforms are made to the agency, meaning another potential partial shutdown...
