DOROTHY

Dorothy Martin fronts DOROTHY. But Martin has also contributed her vocal prowess to other artists. Her resume includes vocals for Nita Strauss’ “Victorious,” which appeared on the guitarist’s ’23 effort “The Call Of The Void”; then there was a duet  with Creed’s Scott Stapp on the ballad “If These Walls Could Talk” which was on Stapp’s solo album “Higher Power”; Martin was featured on Staind’s “Better Days; and handled the vocals on “Key To The Highway” a song on Slash’s “Orgy Of The Damned” album. That Slash connection would pay off down the road. Victorious If These Walls Could Talk Dorothy Martin But long before Martin was a favored guest artist she was introduced to producer/guitarist Mark Jackson and his production partner Ian Scott. They were impressed with Martin’s voice, to say the least. “If we put this behind some serious old-school metal riffs, we’ll have something big,” said Jackson. Jackson’s vision was clear. “We want to make songs that we think Beavis and Butthead would like.” “I’m going to grab the microphone and sing. That’s what I came to do,” added Martin. DOROTHY, consisting of drummer Jake Hayden, guitarist Sam Koltun, and bassist Eliot Lorango, was formed in L.A. around Martin. Along the way, “Wick Ones” amped the group’s profile. The track failed to chart in the U.S. it was used in ads for Levi’s and Gatorade. Wicked Ones DOROTHY released their debut self-titled EP, which was recorded in a sparebedroom at Scott’s L.A. residence. Next, they released their full-length ’16debut “Rockisdead.” One critic said the album’s appeal was “it’s transparenttrash so desperate to be dirty.” Following a tour supporting Halestorm, the group released their sophomore full-length set, “28 Days In The Valley” led by the single “Flawless.” Martin stated the album hade “more feminine energy… a lighter and brighterfeel, with less Metal influence.” Flawless About DOROTHY’s “Gifts From The Holy Ghost,” Martin explainedthe title came from a personal experience of witnessing a person come backto life. The ’22 set contained the lead track “Black Sheep” and “Rest In Peace,” the band’s highest charting song to date on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart (#2). Black Sheep Rest In Peace The Way Released in ’25, “The Way,” was the band’s fourth studio set. “This album is a love letter to the fans,” offered the singer. “I’m letting them know everything is going to be okay, and we’ll help each other find the way — even if we get lost at times.” It featured the singles “MUD” and “Tombstone Town.” The latter “is a sexy boot-stomper about betrayal, revenge, and mercy,” noted Martin.” “Slash lends us his legendary guitar playing.” He called the song “a sexy Rock ‘n’ Roll grind.” MUD Tombstone Town ### The post DOROTHY appeared first on RockinTown.
