A man and a woman, citizens of Bulgaria, have been brought to justice in Scotland accused of assaulting and prone to a group of girls aged 12 to 14 for sexual harassment.

The assault took place in the Lochee district of Dundee in August and stirred up a major stir after a video with one of the girls from the time of the crime has been widely distributed.

In the video, one of the girls was seen trying to defend herself with a knife and an axe, and she was hailed on social media as a hero who stood up for her friends.

The incident was highlighted by Elon Musk and other international profiles.

Several media outlets then chose to publish articles that suspect the girl with the axe – and the Bulgarian man let the text about what had happened.

One of the girls was also arrested on suspicion of illegal weapons possession.

"What kind of government are gripping little girls trying to defend themselves?" Elon Musk asked himself on X.

The international attention prompted the Scottish police to go out and warn that "disinformation" was circulated about the incident. It was further alleged in the media that there was no evidence that the girls were harassed or because the couple in question were immigrants.

But now it all gets a legal aftermath – and it is the man and the woman who face the rink.

The defendants are Ilia Belov, 22, and Nadjedzha Belova, 20. According to the indictment, Belov must first have approached and followed four girls, 12-14 years. He allegedly made sexual comments before grabbing one of the girls and pushing her down on the ground.

Belova accused of grabbing another of the girls, pulling her by her hair and dragging her down. She then punched the girl on her head so that she was injured.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for March 6. The defendants have yet to file an official response to the charges.

According to BBC News, even a 12-year-old girl has been reported to authorities in connection with an alleged violation related to the incident.
