FAA tightens helicopter safety rules near airports after National Airport crash

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is tightening helicopter safety measures, more than a year after the fatal collision of an American Airlines passenger jet and a military helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. In a Wednesday release, FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the Trump administration is suspending the use of visual separation between airplanes and helicopters and mandating that air traffic controllers use radar to "actively manage these aircraft to keep them separated at specific lateral or vertical distances."...
