Daughtry’s “Artificial” tops Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart (dated 2/17). The band has had eight entries in seventeen years but this is their first #1 on the survey. Prior to “Artificial‚” currently a standalone single‚ Daughtry’s highest ranking song on Mainstream Rock Airplay was #4 with “Heavy Is The Crown” in ’21. Following Chris Daughtry’s run as a finalist on the fifth season of American Idol the band’s self-titled debut album‚ released in ’06‚ went to #1 on the Billboard 200. “Artificial” replaces Shinedown’s “A Symptom Of Being Human” which ruled the chart for nearly a month.
