"Much easier to be a white and blue-eyed refugee"

DOMESTIC. Malmö artist Alqumit Alhamad, who immigrated to Sweden from the Arab world, is furious on Swedish Radio about how well Ukrainian refugees are treated in Sweden. It "triggers his trauma".
- Ukrainian refugees can study and get on the train without paying anything. For me, it took three years to study and work, says Alqumit Alhamad to P4 Malmö.
He says that he was forced to embark on a "death journey" all the way to Sweden from Syria when the Islamic State captured his hometown of Raqqa. This instead of staying in the immediate area and seeking protection there.
Not only that. Europe took from him the only thing he had left in Syria - his dignity, Alqumit Alhamad further explains.
- I think about what they said to me, how they in France beat me because I was there, how they took money from me, took all my clothes and violated my body without my consent because they wanted to look for something.
Seeing how well Ukrainian refugees are treated "triggers his trauma", writes P4.
- It is much easier to be a white and blue-eyed refugee, Alqumit Alhamad explains.
P4 Malmöhus has subsequently updated its article and removed the above quote from Alqumit Alhamad.
