Blinken met Zelensky - promises more money and extended war

FOREIGN. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Minister Lloyd Austin met with the Ukrainian government in Kyiv on Sunday, discussing a military aid package to prolong the war and make it as costly as possible for Russia.


"We want Russia to be weakened to such an extent that the country cannot do the kind of things it has done during the invasion of Ukraine," Blinken said after the meeting.

The three-hour meeting resulted in US promises of 713 million dollars, almost seven billion kronor, in support of Ukraine and another 15 countries that supported Ukraine with, among other things, weapons.

Just over $ 320 million is earmarked directly for Ukraine.
