DOMESTIC. Shia Muslim imams in Sweden marry women who are bought by men who want temporary sex. Imams often get paid to mediate sex purchases, reveals SVT's "Assignment review".


These are time-limited so-called "pleasure marriages" which, through the Imam's blessing, make the purchase of sex halal, that is, permissible according to Islam.

Several women tell Assignment review that Shia Muslim leaders in Sweden charge to carry out the marriages.

Assignment review has filmed 15 different Shia Muslim parish representatives when they offer to perform "pleasure marriage" to SVT's employees.

Due to the revelation, the umbrella organization Islamic Shia Societies in Sweden has now decided to freeze membership for several of its congregations.
