For a long time now, the world and its large companies have embraced what has come to be known as "woke", which in Swedish is best translated as "political correctness". It has resulted in bizarre decisions, bad movies and series, censorship, undemocratic electoral influence and much more. But have we recently begun to see the beginning of the end for woke-ism?

It may be too early to say today, but there are some signs that may make one sense a certain clarity. The most obvious example is Musk's alleged acquisition of Twitter. It has not yet gone through as they are engaged in some form of 'due diligence'. The last thing I read was that he paused the process of the acquisition while waiting to examine how much of Twitter's users are real people, vs so-called "cures", ie not real users.

But just the fact that the plans have come this far, along with Musk's dedication to free speech combined with his ambitious plans to increase both Twitter users and revenue, can make a difference. The world's richest man, as he is today judged to be, may make other companies, which thought to be woke is advantageous, perhaps re-evaluate his position: “If Musk sees growth and economy in making Twitter less politically correct, maybe we can too? ”. It is not impossible that such thoughts can be formed. If Musk succeeds, it is proof that you do not have to be woke.

There is also nowadays a saying: "Get Woke Go Broke", which translated is "become politically correct and go bankrupt". It is about several companies going out and boasting about how politically correct they are just to see their business go to the forest shortly afterwards. A Swedish example of this was the shoe company Brandos, which released an anti-SD video ahead of the 2014 election and said that SD members are not welcome in their business. They then ended up in great financial trouble and were forced to rebuild . They then appear to have gone bankrupt.

One possible additional sign is Netflix, which recently went out and said that employees who complain about movies or series at the streaming giant who do not agree with their own politically correct values can find another job. This is a big change compared to before, when Netflix has recently received strong criticism for being politically correct, which is reflected in their content. Among others, Elon Musk is said to have expressed such criticism:

Now Twitter and Netflix are certainly just two examples, but at the same time two great examples. If they succeed in combating woke-ism in a successful way, where both profits and users increase, they can get others to do the same. Then perhaps the wet blanket that lies over culture, advertising and large companies has a chance to let go, which in turn in the long run could lead to major positive changes.

In times like these, when most things go in the wrong direction, you can at least try to treat yourself to the few straws that are available.
