Saturday evening an' now watchin' Svengooli on MeTV, 1948's "The Creeper", reminds me of something I posted...uh...ahem...elsewhere.

The only known photograph of the Lurch family with a soon enough not to be so little Lurch, 1889.

Curiously all have only the one name, Lurch. Lurch of course went on to Addams Family fame.

We can see Lurch inherited his father's handsome looks.

I thought it was interesting how most of the characters in that movie were smoking cigarettes and drinking all the time (for almost no reason). The women's fashions where cool but the men's not so much. They seemed to like blonds a lot too. No black folks either, not even the elevator operator. Also, none of the buildings had security and the doors were unlocked. Things were quite different a year after WWII (1946). Also interesting they choose New York as the location of the story and not some other city like Chicago or San Fran.
