At a press conference on Friday, the leaders of the Christian Democrats presented parts of their new tougher criminal policy and some proposals in the area on which they go to the polls. Among other things, the party wants rapists to be compulsorily sentenced to chemical castration. For aggravated rape of a child, life imprisonment should be the penalty.

Friday 's press conference with the KD leader in Teaterparken in Nyköping revolved a lot around crime and punishment and in particular penalties for sexual crimes where you want to see sharp penalties. The most challenging proposal is that rapists should be chemically castrated in order to be released into society after serving their sentences.

Today, a person convicted of a sexual crime can choose to voluntarily submit to chemical castration. But the Christian Democrats want this to be introduced as a condition for release. Specifically, it means that a person is set on a continuous dose of hormone-lowering medication that removes the sexual drive.

For aggravated rapes, KD wants to see sharp penalties. According to the party's proposal, the penalty should be between 10 and 25 years in prison. Today, the interval is 5 to 10 years in prison.

When it comes to aggravated rape of children, the Christian Democrats want to go even further. There, it is life imprisonment that should apply.
