Politicians promise 20 million dollars to whoever murders Islam critic Geert Wilders

Twitter has suspended the account of a Pakistani politician on the platform after he promised in a tweet a sum of 20 million dollars to whoever murders the Dutch Freedom Party and Member of Parliament Geert Wilders.

It was on Saturday, in his ecstasy over the assassination attempt on author Salman Rushdie, that Pakistan Muslim League politician Rehan M. Sabir took to the social media platform Twitter to express a desire for the assassination of Wilders. Sabir wants the Dutch politician's profile to be next in line after Rushdie to die in the name of Islam.

Geert Wilders is best known for his criticism of Islam and Islamism. He is of the opinion that the Koran calls for violence and murder and should therefore be banned. He has previously said that the freedom of speech for critics of Islam is threatened.

"All Muslims want a head"
Rehan M. Sabir's tweet, which has now been taken down following Twitter's suspension of the Pakistani's account, read:

"After the attack on Salman Rushdie insha'Allah [God willing, eds. note] the next issue is @geertwilderspvv. Anyone from the world who gives @geertwilderspvv head I will give $20 million. I want @geertwilderspvv head. We want head. All Muslims want heads.”

The post ended up on a screenshot and was republished by a Swedish Twitter user before it was deleted by the platform.
