Approximately 70 percent of the differences in wealth between the world's countries can be linked to the IQ level as the sole explanatory factor.

- We found that the IQ level was the most reliable indicator for predicting economic growth with the greatest impact, compared to roughly 70 other variables taken from the literature in the area of ​​growth, says researcher Emil OW Kirkegaard at the University of Ulster.

According to the study, there are also other indicators that correlate with high prosperity, such as access to natural resources, social institutions, cultural development and so on. Several of these indicators were strongly correlated with prosperity, but none was as important as population intelligence.

Something that may surprise the public is that there are strong doubts as to whether democracy improves or worsens economic growth in a country. This study does not provide an answer to that either, but it has long been known among researchers that the situation is highly unclear.

- Already in 1993, about half of the studies showed that democracy led to increased economic growth, while almost as many claimed the opposite, says Kirkegaard in a comment.

In recent years, the IQ level in Sweden has fallen sharply, which has been shown, among other things, through poorer math skills and other skills in the country's PISA results. However, according to a study by the Institute for Business Research, this is entirely due to immigration, i.e. the very high contribution immigration from low-IQ countries in the third world.
