Red, White and Blue Jell-O shots

Red White and Blue Jell-O Shots are made with blue gelatin, red gelatin, sweetened condensed milk and vodka to make fun Jell-O shots perfect for the 4th of July! PATRIOTIC JELL-O SHOTS These layered Red White and Blue Jell-O Shots are the perfect way to celebrate any of our patriotic holidays! These are so much fun and everyone flocks to them when I bring them out. They’re so colorful and they taste great too! They’re great for backyard bbq’s, pool parties, gatherings, potlucks, or anytime you’re celebrating the good ole U.S. of A! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:  Can these be made without alcohol? Of course! If you want kids to enjoy these, or anybody who chooses not to have alcohol, you can simply omit the vodka in these when making them. Instead just make sure to swap the vodka measurement out for cold water when mixing. What flavors of Jell-O can I use? The key is getting flavors that will give you the right color layers. Depending on your flavor preferences, many different combinations can be made. Here are the flavors I would suggest you choose from. For the blue layer: You can use berry blue or blue raspberryFor the white layer: You have to use unflavored gelatin to mix with the unsweetened gelatin powder. For the red layer: You can use cherry, strawberry, or raspberry. Can I use flavored vodka? Sure. If you want to use a flavored vodka, I would choose one based on your Jell-O flavors so it would pair nicely with whatever combination you picked. I like to use berry flavored vodka with mine. I think marshmallow flavored vodka would be lovely as well! Which shot cups did you use? I like to use these two ounce plastic shot cups (paid affiliate link), especially because they have a lid to use with them. The lid makes them stack easier for storage and if you need to transport them. How do I prevent the colors from running together? Patience, patience, patience. This really is the key to this recipe. Allow the jello mixture to cool to room temperature before pouring it over the previous layer. If the mixture is warm, it will melt the layer beneath it and cause the layers to run together. Also, ensure that your Jello layers are fully set in the fridge before adding the next layer, or the colors will run together. How long do Jell-O Shots last? Typically, Jell-O shots can last up to a week in the fridge. I’d wait to add the whipped cream and cherry until you’re ready to serve. INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE) water– you’ll need both cold and boiling water Jell-O powder– you’ll need a box of blue Jell-O, a packet of unflavored gelatin powder, and a box of red Jell-O mix (you can go with cherry, raspberry or strawberry – whatever your flavor preference) vodka – chilled. This can be traded out for tequila or white rum if that’s what you prefer. sweetened condensed milk – It needs to be sweetened condensed milk – not evaporated. You have to be careful as the cans are usually very close to each other on the store shelf.
