MEDIA. The German public service company ARD apologizes after publishing a text about "racist or conspiratorial rats" on Twitter.

Tagesschau, which can be said to correspond to SVT's Aktuellt, published on Monday an analysis by its envoy in Los Angeles, Nils Dampz.

In the article, Dampz discusses the problems that have arisen for Elon Musk in connection with the Twitter purchase.

In the original version, the German journalist writes about "racist or conspiratorial rats" on Twitter.

These "rats" must be "beaten back to their holes" if Twitter is to remain "relevant", according to Nils Dampz.

After drawing attention to the wording, Tagesschau has now chosen to re-edit the article and remove the mention of "rats".

"We apologize for the choice of words. It was never the goal to dehumanize anyone," writes Tagesschau on Twitter.
