The Chameleons, also known as The Chameleons UK in the United States, is a post-punk band formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester in 1981. The band’s classic lineup consists of Mark Burgess (vocals, bass), Reg Smithies (guitar), Dave Fielding (guitar), and John Lever (drums), although Lever was replaced by Brian Schofield for their debut album. They are known for their atmospheric, guitar-driven sound, which was a significant part of the British post-punk scene of the early 1980s.
