FOREIGN. The US is accused of being behind the explosions of the Nord Stream in the Baltic Sea. Now, American intelligence sources in collaboration with the New York Times instead point to a "pro-Ukraine group" for the deed.

The anonymous sources state that the sabotage was most likely carried out by Ukrainian or Russian nationals, or a combination of both.

However, the mysterious group cannot be directly linked to the Ukrainian or any other government, according to the New York Times.

Nor do the sources claim to know anything more about those responsible, except that they were opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

How the saboteurs would have managed to carry out the advanced action without the help of state actors is also not clear.

What evidence the New York Times has for the information, if any, is also unclear. But intelligence sources say the US government had nothing to do with the blasts.

The legendary investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published a report a month ago in which the American government, in cooperation with the Norwegian government, was singled out as guilty. However, the White House has vehemently denied the allegations. Even the Ukrainian government has denied that they were involved in the sabotage.
