Lush was formed in 1987 by Miki Berenyi (vocals, guitar), Emma Anderson (guitar, vocals), Steve Rippon (bass), and Chris Acland (drums). The band hailed form London, England. Known for their role in the shoegaze music scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Lush combined ethereal vocal harmonies, textured guitar work, and lush, dreamy soundscapes, which positioned them as one of the key bands in the genre alongside groups like My Bloody Valentine and Ride. The band released their first recording, the mini-album Scar, in 1989 under the UK indie label 4AD.
