Unidentified Drones: Are They Terrestrial or Something Else?
In the past several months, mysterious drone-like objects have been reported in the skies over New York, the UK, and other locations worldwide.
The FBI has released a statement acknowledging the sightings, but their response has raised more questions than answers. “At this time, we do not have conclusive information on the origin or intent of these objects, but we can confirm that they pose no immediate threat to public safety,” the agency stated. But how can they assure the public of safety when they admit to knowing so little?
Witnesses often describe these drones as silent, highly maneuverable, and occasionally glowing with unusual lights. Over oceans, their presence becomes even more puzzling, raising questions about their origin. Could there be truth to the burgeoning theory that some form of advanced non-human intelligence might be operating from underwater bases?

A Global Phenomenon
Reports have emerged from Colorado ranches of drones hovering in eerie, grid-like patterns at night. In Sussex, UK, locals described glowing orbs that defied conventional aerial physics, maneuvering at incredible speeds and then vanishing without a trace.
Meanwhile, off the coasts of California, Navy personnel have detailed encounters with what they termed “cubes within spheres,” eerily reminiscent of cutting-edge drone designs from Chinese researchers.
The widespread nature of these incidents points to one certainty: this is no isolated event.

Critics of government responses draw comparisons to post-9/11 homeland security measures. Billions spent on defense, surveillance, and counterterrorism, yet we’re clueless about who or what is in our skies.
How can authorities dismiss the risk without understanding the entities involved? It’s either extreme incompetence or deliberate misdirection.
The ambiguity of the government’s position has parallels to past incidents involving unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), where the lack of information—or the withholding of it—has fueled distrust. Some believe this secrecy reflects an inability to address the unknown without destabilizing public confidence.
A question that looms large is whether these are drones at all or something entirely different. The persistent idea of extraterrestrial involvement is bolstered by historical accounts of UAPs exhibiting behaviors far beyond human engineering. However, terrestrial explanations abound as well.
One plausible theory is that these drones are the result of state-sponsored experiments. The global arms race for drone supremacy has introduced advanced designs, such as the “cube in a sphere” prototype revealed by Chinese researchers in 2022. Could this explain some of the sightings?
Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, formerly the Pentagon’s chief UFO investigator, speculated that advanced drones could explain at least some sightings. He referenced Singaporean and Chinese academics’ recent developments in “next-generation” drones, including the “SpICED (Cube)” prototype. This raises another question: Could a foreign state or private entity be responsible for this aerial mystery?

Cutting-Edge Surveillance Systems: What Do They Really See?
The U.S. military operates some of the most advanced radar systems in the world, and their capabilities raise critical questions about the ongoing mystery of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) and drones. Take Eglin Air Force Base’s Site C-6 in Florida, for instance.
Home to the 20th Space Surveillance Squadron (20th SPSS), this site features the AN/FPS-85 phased array radar, operational since 1968, and the Space Fence system located in the Marshall Islands. Together, these systems are capable of tracking man-made objects with astonishing precision—from detecting golf ball-sized debris 7,000 kilometers away to basketball-sized objects at distances of 40,000 kilometers.
If these radars can track minuscule objects in deep space, why can’t they definitively identify the drones or UAPs frequently reported in Earth’s atmosphere?
The 20th SPSS’s mission includes tracking and characterizing objects in space to provide actionable intelligence. According to publicly available information, the squadron conducts 24/7 operations and integrates multi-source intelligence to assess both benign and potentially hostile targets. Their stated purpose is to ensure the security of the space domain—so how could these mysterious drones slip through their net?
Some argue that the military is intentionally withholding data, a theory that aligns with the notion of “narrative control.” By sharing selective information, the authorities could maintain plausible deniability while keeping sensitive knowledge classified.
The more cynical among observers suggest that this lack of transparency is a deliberate strategy to keep the public focused on speculation rather than demanding concrete answers.

Tracking UFOs
By their very definition, the radar systems at Eglin and elsewhere are built to track unidentified flying objects. The military has openly acknowledged this capability, going so far as to declassify videos showing UAPs that display advanced, intelligent movements. The question, then, isn’t whether they can detect UAPs—it’s how much of this information is being withheld.
Critics often draw parallels to Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, suggesting that the public is being shown mere shadows of the truth while the real data—what the “light” reveals—is kept hidden. These critics argue that the government’s approach blends truth with obfuscation, offering just enough to seem transparent while concealing the most crucial details.
If UAPs or drones exhibit signs of intelligence, such as coordinated movements or advanced manufacturing, the radar systems at Eglin would likely detect them first.
With coverage extending globally, albeit not entirely seamless, their surveillance capabilities challenge the narrative that these objects remain unidentified due to technical limitations. Instead, many believe this “unidentified” status stems from a lack of political will—or a deliberate choice to suppress the full story.
So why hasn’t the military provided a definitive answer? Could it be that the truth is so disruptive—whether it involves foreign adversaries or extraterrestrial technology—that it must be carefully managed? Or is it that the systems tracking these objects are limited in ways we don’t fully understand?
The Role of Non-Human Intelligence
The elephant—or perhaps the UFO—in the room is the possibility of extraterrestrial activity. Moving seamlessly between air and water, exhibiting no clear propulsion systems, and evading detection with ease, they challenge conventional understanding of flight and surveillance technology.
There’s a growing body of thought suggesting that these phenomena might not originate from outer space but from right here on Earth. If intelligent life were to hide, the vast and unexplored depths of our oceans would be an ideal refuge.
For years, reports of unidentified submerged objects (USOs) have gone largely underreported but are now gaining attention in light of recent events.
If these are alien crafts, their lack of interaction with human infrastructure or defense systems suggests observation rather than aggression. Why would advanced lifeforms be watching Earth so intently now? Are they monitoring geopolitical tensions, climate changes, or humanity’s technological advancements?
On the other hand, if these objects belong to a terrestrial adversary, a technological leap by a foreign power, undetected by U.S. intelligence, would signal a seismic shift in global power dynamics. If a nation-state is behind these drones, their purpose remains ambiguous—surveillance, provocation, or testing defense vulnerabilities?

Official Reassurances, Public Skepticism
While the FBI insists these drones pose no risk, people point out the contradictions. How can one assess the threat level of an unidentified object? It’s like telling us the monster under the bed doesn’t bite but refusing to check under the bed in the first place.
The lack of concrete answers is fueling public mistrust, with many accusing the government of withholding information. A recent poll showed that 60% of Americans believe their government knows more about these sightings than it is letting on.
Billions of dollars in defense budgets, yet we can’t identify a flying object in our own airspace? How can the FBI and other agencies maintain credibility when they seemingly know so little—or are unwilling to share?

A Call for Accountability
The pressure is mounting for governments to act decisively. There are calls for international cooperation to address what is increasingly viewed as a global security concern.
If this is a foreign adversary, we need collective intelligence and resources to respond. If it’s something beyond Earth, it’s a discovery that could redefine humanity’s place in the universe.
The public deserves to know the truth—whether that truth is mundane or extraordinary.
