“Fire Aid” Comes Through
The “Fire Aid” concerts in L.A. (1/30) were an essential step toward recovery from the devastation and cost of the wildfires that struck SoCal earlier this month. Numerous performers played at two venues to raise money to aid in rebuilding.
Performers at the newly opened Intuit Dome included Jelly Roll. Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder.
At the Kia Forum had Green Day, Alanis Morissette, No Doubt, Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Stevie Nicks took the stage.
Green Day kicked off their show with a version of “Last Night On Earth” with Billie Joe Armstrong playing acoustic guitar. Billie Eilish, walked out as a surprise guest (she was scheduled for the Intuit Dome show starting later). The pair shared the chorus in front of a backdrop of photos illustrating fire rescue efforts.
Green Day’s set also included “Still Breathing” and “When I Come Around,” featuring Armstrong shouting out many of the California cities destroyed by the fires, including Altadena and Pacific Palisades. “We are in this together,” he yelled.
