Zelensky: Over a hundred billion dollars to Ukraine missing
Published 2025-02-03
The majority of the money promised by the United States to Ukraine has never arrived, the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky claims in a new interview.
It is the American news agency Associated Press that conducted a little over an hour-long interview with the Ukrainian president.
Trump's election victory, the situation on the battlefield and the conditions for negotiating an end to the war are some of the themes discussed in it.
Money is missing
About 40 minutes into the interview, Zelensky is asked how he views Donald Trump's freezing of contributions to organizations that operate in Ukraine, among other things, and the risk that military support will also be stopped.

Zelensky, who says he understands that Trump wants to focus on the United States first, then responds that less than half of the money promised by the Biden administration has reached Ukraine.

"We hear from the United States that America has given Ukraine $177 billion, to be exact, based on what was approved by the Senate. That is the figure that various organizations mention," Zelenskyy said.
– As president of a country at war, I can tell you that we have received just over 75 billion.
$100 billion missing
Zelensky then emphasizes that the billions that the US sent to Ukraine are in the form of weapons, not money.
– But about 100 billion of this 177 billion, or even 200 billion as some claim, we have never received, he says.
The Ukrainian president points out that it is possible that some of the money came in the form of training, transportation, humanitarian aid, etc. But that it is something that the Ukrainian government has no overview of.
– So when they say that Ukraine received 200 billion to support the country's army, it's not true. I don't know where all that money is. Maybe it's true on paper, maybe it's in hundreds of different programs. I don't question it, we are very grateful for everything, but as president I can say that we have received and accounted for about 76 billion. It's a large amount of support, but it's not 200 billion, says Volodymyr Zelenskyj.
