No matter how much you hate these people, it is not nearly enough.
That is what I thought when I saw this:
‘Largely clean’ driving record other than DUI’s and killing a mother and her daughter. Beyond demons.

The original story in The New Jersey Monitor is unremarkable, aside from its topic. An illegal immigrant got drunk, killed a mother and child, and the courts are trying to figure out what to do with him. It is a sad story, and for most people, the reaction would be anger that it happened and a desire to punish and kick the guy out of the country. As far as I can tell, the reporter played it straight. Just the facts.
But the facts weren't really the issue for Dana DiFilippo, a reporter at the same newspaper. Her reaction was to suggest it was no big deal. His driving record is "largely clean." Why are we making such a big deal about this? She shared the story in order to defend the illegal alien who murdered a mother and a child. Why?
While I can't read minds, I have a very good idea why DiFilippo felt the need to downplay the story: President Trump has made an issue about the case, and since Orange Man thinks that the perp is a bad dude, he must be pure as the driven snow.
So, a man with multiple DUIs and the deaths of a mother and child has a "largely clean" driving record all of a sudden. And those domestic violence arrests? There are only a few, so why are you making such a big deal about it?
Model citizen.

She could have left the story alone, but then again, she couldn't. She had to defend the murderous illegal alien because Orange Man Bad. She couldn't even shut up about it.
It is, of course, enraging that people like this are reporting the "news," and amazing that anybody thinks they can get away with it without being called out.
The illegal immigrant who drove an SUV head-on into a sedan carrying a young mother and her 11-year-old daughter, killing both, had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, New Jersey officials revealed this week.
Raul Luna-Perez had also been spotted speeding in the moments just before the fatal July 26 crash, and eyewitnesses told cops they watched his SUV pass four other vehicles before making the fifth, and fatal, attempt.
Luna-Perez, 43, was driving more than 60 miles an hour down a residential street in Lakewood when his Dodge Durango rammed into 42-year-old Maria Pleitez’s Nissan Sentra, killing her in an instant, investigators said this week.
The mother and daughter were on their way to Wawa for milkshakes when they were struck, Pleitez’s niece, Maria del Carmen Pleitez, 39, told The Post.
Dayanara’s friend, also an 11-year-old girl, was in the car with them but survived. She has not been identified by police.
A woman who was with Luna-Perez at the time of the crash was also injured, but was expected to recover.
But at least he has a "largely clean" driving record. That is what DeFilippo took away from the story.

You could make a parlor game of such absurdities. Perhaps we should really think better of Jeffrey Dahmer since, according to a bit of rough math, he only murdered people on 0.01% of the days he lived. He lived a "largely" murder-free life, with the 17 murders being clear anomalies.
Who would throw a mother and child under the bus just to defend an illegal immigrant who murdered them? A former NPR reporter, of course. Who now works for a "nonprofit" news source.
You can't make it up. So on brand. AWFL all the way.
On the one hand, I feel a little bad for Dana--she has gotten so much grief that she deleted her X account, and no doubt she is paying a cruel price for being so obtuse--but on the other, this isn't about a single person's moral blindness. It is about the class of people who think like this. The AWFL, NPR-types whose first reaction when they see an MS-13 member being deported is to rush to his defense.
"Maryland Man." "Father." "Constituent." They have to pretend that these people are fine, upstanding, totally innocent, and being persecuted because Orange Man Bad.
These are the people who see that Washington, D.C. has a murder rate higher than Mexico City or Bogota, Colombia, and say, "What crime?" As ordinary Washington residents breathe a sigh of relief that SOMEBODY is doing something about crime, the intelligentsia is denying that there is any crime at all in DC.

Filippo's response is not just hers, but representative of a class of snobby reporters and other elites who dismiss the concerns of ordinary people because, well, they don't count and, besides, they like Orange Man. They go to Wawa for ice cream, which you have to admit is kinda yucky. They probably shop at Walmart!
I live in Arlington. I’m a reporter. I travel into DC frequently. I’ve never been carjacked. I know it happens but I don’t know anyone who has been carjacked. I’ve never been the victim of any crime in DC.

I have been to cities crawling with troops. Now that’s ugly. https://t.co/4UxwjYLjPB
I don't know Dana or Ron Kampeas, and dragging these particular individuals for their comments achieves nothing. In an abstract way, I wish them well enough. Or, rather, I don't care one way or another about them. I certainly don't feel the need to "cancel" them.
But as representatives of a class of people who think and act like this, they deserve all the derision that is heaped on them. I'm sorry that they are suffering, assuming they are not basking in the glow of approval within their peer group. Really, all the hatred that is coming out is for the class that is happy to toss the interests of ordinary people out the window to make a political point.

It's the Martha Raddatz-class. Raddatz, who now bloviates at ABC, is also an NPR alum. Filippo's "largely clean" is Raddatz' "only a handful." Hold your White Privilege, folks!
That such people have a stranglehold on the information that millions of people get is the problem. If Raddatz or DeFilippo or Ron Kampeas or any of the other journo-types who pooh-pooh the concerns of ordinary people were just some schmo down the street I wouldn't care. There are plenty of jerks in the world, and they come in all shapes, sizes, religions, and ideologies.
But it matters that these people are reporters. They control the flow of information, and they clearly hate our guts. Clean the whole lot of them out.
