Washington State Rep Tarra Simmons introduced HB 2641, a bill to deny anyone who worked for ICE after 2021 the ability to become a police officer of any kind in the state. Ironically, Simmons had her own felony drug conviction expunged so she could be a state Rep (among other things). Not to worry, other Democrat legislators across the country have plenty of anti-ICE plans.

House Bill 2641 was slated to come before the House Community Safety Committee, but it was tabled, which effectively killed it for this particular session.

Maybe next year, you say? Never fear, this is the state of Washington where even Democrat Governor Bob Ferguson seems to suffer from an anti-ICE delusion.

Meanwhile, other anti-ICE bills were approved by the Community Safety Committee, including House Bill 2648, which would require local police to activate their body-worn and vehicle dash cameras when encountering federal agents conducting immigration enforcement. In other words, Washington Democrats want to pit local police officers against federal immigration agents, much as what was proposed by leftist lunatic Mayor Katie Wilson of Seattle, who is pushing for Seattle cops to stalk ICE agents and report their activities. 

The state legislation would require officers to report any ICE activity to their agency so the public could be notified. 

That bill’s sponsor, Rep. Mary Fosse, said the measure “provides clarity and the boundaries that will help our law enforcement do their jobs effectively, ethically, in a way that respects civil rights.” 

Republicans were opposed to the bill. 

“We should have observers to keep law enforcement accountable for anything that they might be doing that is not right,” said Rep. Jenny Graham, a Spokane Republican (in opposition to the bill). “However, there is a difference between observing and interfering or becoming physical themselves.”  Law Enforcement Today

(Note: Washington is trying to pass a bill to make Sheriffs an appointed office instead of an elected one).

HB 2641 may have been derailed at least temporarily, but the anti-ICE sentiment remains. Washington is a far-left state run by “we’re gonna tax constituents” to death” Democrats. Their hatred for anything involving the Trump administration goes from logical ideas to trying to pass a “Sovereign State” initiative. They never read the Supremacy Clause, apparently.
