California Gov. Gavin Newsom told the late Charlie Kirk on a podcast in March 2025 that allowing boys to compete against girls in competitive sports was “deeply unfair.” The podcast is called This Is Gavin Newsom, but this is the real Gavin Newsom: he has done absolutely nothing since to stop the practice and has, in fact, stood idly by while it continues unabated, with boys taking medals and scholarships from girls and sometimes even injuring them in the process.

Despite President Donald Trump’s edict that males playing against girls must stop, a familiar figure — Jurupa Valley High School senior AB Hernandez, who has stolen opportunities and success from girls before — picked up more medals at the 2026 VS Athletics California Winter Championships.
This seems pretty “deeply unfair,” Governor:
AB Hernandez, a senior at Jurupa Valley High School, secured first place in the girls’ triple jump at the California Winter Championships on February 7th. Hernandez also placed second in the long jump and had strong showings in other jumping events, building on his success from the 2025 outdoor season.
Competing at Arcadia High School, Hernandez posted a winning mark of 39 feet, 10 inches, surpassing the runner-up’s jump of 39 feet, 3¼ inches by a margin of approximately seven inches. Hernandez also took first place in the girls’ high jump and triple jump events at the May 31st meet in Clovis, California, last year.
Beth Bourne, who describes herself as someone who is a "Mom questioning gender ideology in CA schools," had thoughts:
??Today at the prestigious VS Athletics California Winter Championships in SoCal, AB Hernandez from Jurupa Valley HS (a boy pretending to be a girl) won 1st place in the triple jump with a 39’ 20” jump.

The tweet continues:
In 2nd place (the real winner) was Malia Strange from Shadow Hills HS with a 39’ 3” jump.
Why does Governor @GavinNewsom and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) continue to violate Title IX and gaslight girls?
Hernandez has faced plenty of criticism before, but remains undeterred:
“I get a lot of hate comments, but I don’t really care. I’m a 16-year-old girl with a strong attitude — do you really think I’m going to listen?” Hernandez said in an interview with KCRA last year after she received criticism for competing with female athletes.
That would be inspiring — if, in fact, Hernandez was a girl. The problem is, he’s not.
MORE INSANITY: Progressives' War on Women Was Allowed to Flourish This Weekend, and It Must Be Stopped
Under California law, students are allowed to compete under the gender they identify with, regardless of their actual biological truth. The preposterous notion has come under increased criticism, however, as more and more people notice the blatant discrimination against females and as the injuries pile up.
Why is @CIFState and the @CADeptEd allowing AB Hernandez, a senior at Jurupa Valley High School, to continue to dominate in girls’ track and field this season?

Last June, the California Scholastic Federation awarded him the title of “CIF State Champion” in girls’ triple jump and high jump, and “CIF State Champion Runner-Up” in girls’ long jump.
The Trump administration has launched multiple Title IX investigations into entities that continue to allow the blatantly unfair and dangerous practice, but California soldiers on, refusing to bow to the demands of decency.
Meanwhile, as is his custom, Newsom says one thing, but then does another. He and the far-left legislature have betrayed an untold number of girls in the process. Shameful.
