On February 11 it was reported that Mexican cartel drones breached the border near El Paso, causing the FAA to shut down the airport. The Department of War used electronic warfare to shut down the drones. The DOW referred to the action as ‘neutralizing the threat.’
It is unclear at this time whether the drones carried drugs, weapons, or were just surveillance aircraft.
The initial note from the government said the airport would be shut down for 10 days, but that was lifted as short time later after the DOW reportedly used electronic means to take care of the threat.
Of course, whether that is the truth or the conspiracy theories are right is a question. Some on X claimed that the DOW and/or FAA were “playing around” with drones or a training and that’s why the stoppage was lifted so quickly.

Let’s just say confusion was the name of the game. The El Paso airport is close to the Mexican border, so it all sounded plausible. The cartels have been known to use weaponized drones. And the government let a spy balloon fly across the nation before being shot down during the Biden administration. Which was it this time?
