A person driving a truck slammed his vehicle into the Temple Israel Synagogue and School in West Bloomfield, Michigan at around 12:30 p.m. local time. The suspect is deceased after he opened fire and was killed by the security guard. The suspect reportedly had a rifle.

The truck was left in the hallway of the facility as authorities were checking the vehicle for any IEDs. Smoke billowed from the scene, as it is unclear whether there was an explosive device or something else inside the vehicle. Authorities had to enter the scene with wear gas masks as a precaution.

The Sheriff stated that no children or staff were injured in this incident. One security officer was hit by the truck when it entered and was knocked unconscious. The other members of the security team dragged him out of the building. The security member who engaged the suspect is okay.

The motive for this incident has not been determined yet, although with the US at war with Iran, it raises the possibility of terrorist action. It is antisemitic at the very least. It may be a “lone wolf” situation.

JUST IN: The suspect who rammed his car into a Jewish synagogue in Michigan was shot and killed by armed security and was badly burned.

Temple Israel in West Bloomfield is a large Reform Jewish Synagogue with several thousand members. It is fortunate that no one from the Synagogue or any children were seriously injured.
