Trump Goes There, and It's About Time: Antifa Is 'A Major Terrorist Organization'

Trump designates Antifa as a major terrorist organization, calling for action against political violence.

Although President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are in the U.K. Wednesday for a visit with King Charles III and Queen Camilla—a meeting filled with amazing displays of pomp and circumstance (and I don’t say that snidely; it’s been spectacular)—the president and/or his team have still found time to post to social media.

I reported earlier that he was thrilled that the toxic late-night “comedian” Jimmy Kimmel was finally being made to “find out.” Bye-bye, Jimmy.

But he also took to Truth Social to make a serious policy announcement—he’s naming the antifascist group Antifa a terrorist organization, a move many felt should have been done long ago, dating back to the days of the Biden administration.

It’s time to stop pretending that this violent group is simply made up of “peaceful protesters”:

We need to take action against this militant group, the president wrote:

President Donald Trump said he is designating the far-left anti-fascism movement Antifa as a terrorist organization, announcing the move on his Truth Social platform in the early hours of Thursday morning UK time.

“I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION,” Trump wrote Thursday. “I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

It wasn’t immediately clear what mechanism Trump would use to make the designation, and Antifa lacks centralized structure or defined leadership, making it unclear who or what precisely would be targeted.

“This is just one of many actions the president will take to address left wing organizations that fuel political violence,” a White House official told CNN.

As RedState’s Brandon Morse and Bonchie have reported, there appear to be numerous links between Charlie Kirk’s assassin and the “anti-fascist” militant group.

Brave independent reporter Any Ngo has been reporting for years that the group is known for mayhem, violence, and hate:

To smear him, they reference a Media Matters @mmfa hit piece and tell their comrades to arm themselves with weapons.

The post echoes the Antifa belief that if you speak with a "Nazi," you are also one and should be subject to death.

Antifa basically owns Portland and has directed hundreds of nights of violence and protest in the Northwest city, including taking over and vandalizing a federal courthouse during the George Floyd riots. The Biden administration was nowhere to be seen, and didn’t care.

Antifa has been a shadowy, sinister organization that has somehow escaped more serious scrutiny in the past. Where have you been, Southern Poverty Law Center? They refuse to classify them as a hate group despite giving that designation to PragerU, Focus on the Family, and Libs of TikTok operator Chaya Raichik. Seriously?

How this violent group has been allowed to operate so long, seemingly unfettered, is beyond me. It may be long past due, but Trump is right to recognize them for what they are—violent extremists who are only too happy to dress up in black clothes and bring mayhem and destruction. While Antifa is considered a “nebulous social group,” and therefore hard to crack down on, it’s time for them to receive a reality check.

Hopefully, they're about to receive one.
