Only one ambulance in the entire city of Stockholm: "Life-threatening"
Published July 24, 2025 at 7:53 AM
Domestic. On Tuesday evening, there was only one ambulance on duty at the ambulance station in central Stockholm – despite the area having hundreds of thousands of residents. The situation is described as urgent and staff are now raising the alarm about the danger of the depleted staffing.
It is
Ambulance nurse and safety officer Emil Skoglund was one of those working on Tuesday evening.
He describes the situation as the most serious he has experienced in eight years in the profession – and that during a so-called normal situation, that is, without any ongoing pandemic or major crisis.
– It is life-threatening, he tells TT.
– Now I feel that the measure has been raised. The public must know.
According to Skoglund, the situation is the result of a combination of high staff turnover, poor work environment and difficulties recruiting new staff.
Normally, at least three ambulances should be manned 24/7 at the station, sometimes more. However, due to staff shortages, only one was in operation that evening.
At the same time, the ambulance system throughout the county is dependent on vehicles being able to move across borders – which means that other areas may also be left without coverage when resources are redistributed.
Operations manager Jani Sundqvist at AISAB confirms that three ambulances were grounded at the city station due to staff shortages. He also says that waiting times have increased for patients who are not acutely ill, but that the most urgent alarms are being prioritized as before.
There are a total of about 30 ambulance stations in Stockholm County, where 2.5 million residents live. The problems are expected to persist, according to Skoglund, who sees 16 unmanned shifts for specialist nurses in the northern part of the county ahead of next weekend.
Danes climbed a giant mosque – and demanded repatriation

Foreign. Danish nationalists carried out a spectacular action at the Imam Ali Mosque in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, on Friday. They climbed onto the building, lit smoke bombs and unfurled a banner with the message “Remigration.”

Behind the action is the Danish group Generation Identitär, which describes it as an expression of civil disobedience.
They deny that violence or vandalism occurred and state that the purpose was to protest against Islamization and advocate return migration.
The Imam Ali Mosque has long been controversial in Denmark, including for its alleged links to the Iranian regime. According to Generation Identitär, the mosque has “been the subject of attention from both authorities and the media,” and the group refers to previous revelations of links to mosques in Germany and Sweden that have been accused of espionage and terrorist sympathies.
"Stop Islamization – repatriation now," the group writes on its website.
Several Danish politicians have called for the closure of the Nørrebro mosque over the past year, citing national security concerns. Even before the Swedish revelations in February this year, a Danish Social Democrat argued in a debate article that the mosque should be closed.
