“POV: You Witnessed The Lion King In Real Life”
Heather of hktravelstheworld on TikTok is living her dream. She focuses on “All things travel and lifestyle” and has been to 40 different countries so far. Some of her most popular videos showcase a lion family and their pet jackals. The lion family consists of a male lion, a lioness, and one cub, which Heather has named Simba. They are very much like a real-life family from Disney’s The Lion King franchise.

The clips were recorded at Masai, in the Nairobi Province, Kenya. Heather calls the cub Simba, after the son of Mufasa in the Disney version. The story was first released on June 15, 1994, in its original cartoon format as a full-length movie. The franchise has grown, and the story has been adapted for Broadway, movie shorts, animated series, direct-to-video releases, prequels, and more.
Given the roaring success of The Lion King and the scene she was seeing in front of her camera, it makes perfect sense that Heather dubbed the cub Simba. As you watch the clips she has provided, it is easy to imagine that you are watching a real-life Lion King adventure. In this second clip, Simba appears to be getting into trouble with his jackal friend while his mom naps.

He keeps checking over his shoulder to make sure Mom is still asleep. We tease that the jackals are pets of the lion family. Although it may seem like that, they have a predator-scavenger relationship. The lion is the apex predator, and the jackals are opportunistic scavengers. The lion tolerates them as long as they aren’t jerks.
