BREAKING: Iran Responds To U.S. Attack On Nuclear Sites: The U.S. Crossed A Big Red Line
Iran has responded for the first time since President Trump ordered an attack on three key Iranian nuclear sites.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi downplayed any idea that the United States and Iran could have any form of diplomacy in the coming months.
Araghchi also noted that Iran will respond to the United States’ attack based on their “legitimate right to self-defense.”
CNN had more on the story:
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi went on to say he does not know how “much room is left for diplomacy” after the United States struck Iranian nuclear facilities.
“They crossed a very big red line by attacking nuclear facilities… We have to respond based on our legitimate right for self-defense,” Araghchi said.
Araghchi said Iran has a “variety of options available” when he was asked if his country is considering closing the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway in the Persian Gulf that, if shut, could affect global oil and gas exports.
Iran’s top diplomat said he’s been in touch with several foreign ministers from the region and “almost all of them are very much concerned” and are interested in playing a role in stopping “the Israeli aggression.”
Here’s part of Abbas Araghchi’s response:
“Iran reserves all options to defend its security interests and people.”

The Times of Israel had these details to add:
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned Sunday morning of “everlasting consequences” after US President Donald Trump announced that the American military had carried out a “successful attack” on the Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear sites in Iran.
The United States “has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT [the international Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty] by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations,” Iran’s top diplomat wrote on X.
“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,” Araghchi said.
He added: “In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people.”
Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations called on Sunday for an emergency Security Council meeting for what he described as America’s “heinous attacks and illegal use of force” against Iran.
Now the world has to wait and see what Iran plans to do in retaliation.
