UTL - Growing potatoes ? in POTS
VIDEO by UTL.
My BASICS on growing potatoes in POTS!!! ?
GUYS IT'S THE WEEKEND!! Go on DO IT!!! Start growing your own! NO EXCUSES!!
Even if you live in an apartment put them in cheap $12 50 litre Bunnings Pots on your verandah!!!
THIS IS HONESTLY SO MUCH FUN AND NOT MUCH WORK AT ALL....BUY THE SEED POTATOES AT YOUR NURSERY.
Ensure they are 'chitting' well.
THIS YEAR I WON'T STUPIDLY EAT MY ENTIRE HARVEST - I SHALL KEEP SOME TO REPLANT FOR NEXT YEAR.
This simple method works for me....it got me some good potatoes last year.... any tips feel free to comment below....but what I did here seemed to work well last year.... I mix grass cuttings at the bottom & throughout, organic chicken manure, good soil, sometimes some potting mix, and some sand....
Sometimes I throw a few worms in as well.
Once I perfect this method I could scale up with more pots if need be. I shall make a video in a few months time when it comes to harvest.
Pots are good because when it comes to harvesting you just pour them out into your wheelbarrow to collect the potatoes - no need to dig the ground where you risk slicing up your potatoes.....
And if you use pots then you shall stir up & aerate the soil for the next round....
Plus pots are good if you have little space / too much concrete or live in apartments.
Trying to become more self-sufficient. Are you? Also - if the 'apocalypse' ever comes my family and I will have enough canned food + 20 litre buckets of rice to survive on until these potatoes are fully grown and we can eat them.
If need be I could easily dig up the grass & plants in my back garden and plant heaps of them.....if I did that now my wife would literally kill me :-D.
