Riley Green, Megan Moroney, Parker McCollum & More Honor Toby Keith In Apple Music’s “Covered Session” Playlist
The speculations were true!
Megan Moroney is tipping her hat to the Big Dog Daddy, Toby Keith, by covering one of his classics for an Apple Music Session, and she’s joining a handful of other artists in honoring the late, great country music icon. Riley Green, Ashley McBryde, Parker McCollum, Ella Langley, and Tucker Wetmore, have all cut Toby Keith songs for a new Apple Music exclusive playlist, dubbed the Covered Session.
The playlist is out now, just in time for the 4th of July:

Over the last few months, Megan Moroney has been playing “Who’s Your Daddy” on repeat. From performing the tune live, singing a few lines while hanging out with friends, or throwing down the hit during her sound checks, it was clear that Moroney was going through a big Toby Keith phase. While most thought she was enjoying the tune, and as someone who wears out songs chronically, I was on this team. However, some believed she was teasing fans with a cover of the song on the way.

Given that many country stars performed at Toby Keith’s tribute concert last year at Bridgestone Arena, there was also speculation that she might be teasing this song as her choice for a larger tribute album project that was in the works.
Releasing this cover during the week of the 4th of July feels right on brand for Toby Keith, and I’m sure he’s smiling from above at that marketing move. When Keith released “Who’s Your Daddy,” he shared that he wanted to record the ballad about a young woman running back to a sugar daddy when her love life went south, but he could never get the melody right. When Keith finally cracked the code on how he wanted to compose the tune, it was better than he ever could imagine. He once said:
“It’s everything that I ever wanted to put into a song. It’s got the groove, it’s got the attitude, it’s humorous, it’s about a sugar daddy. And it’s got a real funny little Elvis thing in it, like Viva Las Vegas … it’s got a New Orleans piano in it.”
The playlist also features, Riley Green on Keith’s debut single “Should’ve Been A Cowboy”; Parker McCollum on “Who’s That Man”; Ella singing “Wish I Didn’t Know Now”; Tucker Wetmore performing “As Good As I Once Was”; and the talented Ashley McBryde singing “A Little Less Talk and A Lot More Action.”
I know I’ll be rocking out to Apple Music’s Toby Keith Covered Session all weekend long, along with many other Toby Keith classics. Long live the Big Dog Daddy.
Check out all the covers performed during the session while you’re here.
