New Education Minister Lies About Having a Master's Degree

Minister of the Interior. Minister of Education and Integration Simona Mohamsson (L) claims that she has a master's degree from Åbo Akademi. But in fact she does not have one at all, Aftonbladet ( news paper ) reveals.
On her official LinkedIn page, Simona Mohamsson, new L leader and Minister of Education, claims that she completed a master's degree at Åbo Akademi.

In reality, the Minister of Education has only taken a 20-credit course – a far cry from the 120 credits required for a proper master's degree.

"No completed degree is registered with us for this person," says Åbo Akademi's coordinator to Aftonbladet.

The University of Gothenburg, which runs the current master's program together with Åbo Akademi, also confirms that Simona Mohamsson does not have a degree from there either.

When Aftonbladet began asking questions about the scam, the information on the LinkedIn profile was changed. At the same time, a CV was also published on the government's website, where the alleged degree was removed.

Mohamsson defends herself in a comment to Aftonbladet by saying that she began the education in 2022 but never completed it:

"I started a master's degree at the University of Gothenburg in collaboration with Åbo Akademi in 2022 and that's why I wrote about it on LinkedIn. I did not complete those studies due to work. When I was made aware of the ambiguity regarding this on my LinkedIn, I corrected it. My official CV on the government's website shows which education I have completed," she writes.

Simona Mohamsson is the new leader of the Liberal Party and was recently appointed Minister of Education. She has previously emphasized the importance of education as one of the three basic principles of her party.
