Vinny Appice says he wasn’t invited to final Black Sabbath show

As expected, the other eras of Black Sabbath will not be featured on the band's final show that will happen this Saturday, July 5, at the Villa Park in Birmingham, their hometown. Since the band's reunion with Ozzy, which began in the last decade, the other eras of the group have been largely "erased" and ignored on their official website and social media. As bassist Geezer Butler revealed a few years ago, Ozzy and Tony Iommi currently own the rights to the name Black Sabbath. So, it seems that Ozzy and his wife/manager Sharon may be the reason why the other eras have been ignored in recent years. In an interview with WRIF radio station, the band's former drummer Vinny Appice revealed that he wasn’t invited to their final show. Vinny Appice says he wasn't invited to final Black Sabbath show "No, no, no. They didn't contact me because times have changed and I'm associated with Dio (Black Sabbath era). Even though I did play — at one point I did the European tour with Ozzy and Black Sabbath, which I thought was cool. I'm sitting there on the drum set facing the audience, and then I see Ozzy in front of me, and then Tony and Geezer, I go, 'This is pretty damn cool. I'm with the original band now.'" "It was cool with Ronnie, of course, but now this was, like, 'Wow.' I'm the only other drummer that played with them at that point. That was very cool for me. So I'm associated more with Dio, so I'm not involved in this whole thing there. So that's okay," Vinny Appice said (Transcribed by Blabbermouth). In the rest of that reunion tour in the 80s, Appice went on the road with the band as a backup for Bill Ward. The original drummer was facing some health issues and Appice was already to come in and finish the show if necessary. The American musician joined Black Sabbath in 1980, not long after "Heaven & Hell" was released. His first studio album with the band was "Mob Rules"(1981) and he was also part of the live record "Live Evil" (1982) and the 1992 album "Dehumanizer". Later on, he was the drummer in the Sabbath spin-off group Heaven & Hell, which also had Dio, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DivwM2EVro4&feature=youtu.beThe post Vinny Appice says he wasn’t invited to final Black Sabbath show appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.
