Authorities Identify Man Who Shot Officers Outside Of Texas Border Patrol Facility
Being a Border Patrol agent or law enforcement officer is getting more dangerous as the days pass.
An active shooter event was reported at a Texas Border Patrol Facility on Monday morning.
According to authorities, a man opened fire at a border patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, resulting in three officers being rushed to the hospital after being shot.
The shooter was killed at the scene and has since been identified.
WHEC revealed the identity of the shooter:
A man with an assault rifle fired dozens of rounds at federal agents and a U.S. Border Patrol facility in Texas on Monday, injuring a police officer, before authorities shot and killed him.
Authorities identified the shooter as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, believed to be 27, who they said shot at agents exiting the building, which is near the U.S.-Mexico border. McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez said Mosqueda had a “utility vest” in addition to the rifle when federal agents returned fire.
Hours before the attack in McAllen, Mosqueda’s father was stopped by Weslaco police around 2:30 a.m. for a traffic violation, according to police spokesperson Heriberto Caraveo. The father told police that he was looking for his son, who he said had psychological issues and was carrying weapons in his car, Caraveo told The Associated Press.
Police say the white two-door sedan that Mosqueda drove to the facility had letters painted — possibly in Latin — on the driver’s side door.
“What it means, or whether or not it is an underlying reason for him being here, I do not know,” Rodriguez said when asked about the graffiti.

NBC News reported on what authorities have said so far regarding a possible motive for the shooting:
A motive is not clear at this time, Rodriguez said.
“We do not know at this point in time whether there were any other associates with him or other persons involved,” Rodriguez said. “That is part of the investigation that will ensue after today.”
McAllen International Airport resumed full operations Monday afternoon “following a temporary closure due to off-airport safety concerns,” the city of McAllen said in a Facebook post.
“We appreciate the community’s patience as we prioritized safety during the closure,” McAllen City Manager Isaac J. Tawil said.
